Ok first full day, and I have to say I'm not impressed. Unplugged at ~5am and had to charge it at 10:30 am at 8%. Do I have something wrong? I'm coming from SGIII and I would say of this first day it is =.
Who got the Nexus 6? How is your battery? And How fast the turbo charger?

I just have a cord in my car.... lol.... with the Nexus 5 you had to have extra chargers around... For me I could MAYBE make it from 5:30 in the morning until 4 pm on a single charge with about 2 hours screen on time... MAYBE!!!!!
haha. you should consider a wireless charger for your car.
I know I'm complaining, I guess I just don't understand some of the decision these companies makes. every year we complain about the battery and camera, seems like both was going to be fixed this year, then Google decided to put in a necessary qhd screen to bring down battery life. haha. if only I have the resources to build my own perfect phone.

they should have just went ahead and threw a 4,000 battery in there instead of 3,220..... I am waiting on TYLT to release their wireless car charger and then I'll probably add it to the 3 VU chargers I use at home.
These companies are more concerned with how great the device looks on paper than they are about what is really needed.... qHD and soon 4K screens on smart phones is over kill.......
o dear God, I pray that day will never happen. 4k screen on a phone. we'll probably be carrying an 8 in phone by then.

I didn't know TYLT was coming out with a car charger. On the subject do you think they the QHD screen is the main thing draining the battery? I think that's part of it but I also think its Google's software. My OnePlus One battery life destroys the N6 so far but it's only a 1080P screen. The Note 4 has a QHD but many have said the battery life is pretty good.
I took off today, but tomorrow will be the real test for the N6. I will probably bring my battery pack with me.

I think it is probably both. QHD screens definitely use more battery life than the 1080p, but the 805 is better than the 801 so... the rest points to optimization that Samsung seems to have refined with the S5 and Note 4.

also, Samsung is supposedly using a newer version of amoled screen that is more power efficient than the nexus 6. Nexus 6 is using an older version.

Samsung wouldn't sell them their new panel. Don't blame them, either. It keeps their Note one step ahead of the Nexus. Unfortunately for those of us with the Nexus, it really hurts the device. Not so much in screen quality, but in efficiency. Not sure I would have opted for an AMOLED panel given they couldn't get the best available, but an IPS would have eliminated ambient display. Honestly, that trade off would have been worth it for me.

Yeah they showed off a car charger and a lay flat circle disk charger thing that is a little cheaper than the VU..

I would not have minded a good 1080p amoled display to keep ambient display. Battery life probably would have been great on a 1080p display. Just so long as I get through the day I'll be alright. I'll find out in a couple hours when I pickup my device.

If single day usage is okay with you then you should be just fine.... I went 17 hours and 3 hours of screen on with roughly 5% remaining.... The majority of my battery loss was while at work where I get a very weak signal.... My battery line actually leveled out after leaving work and that was with increased use vs while at work..... If you are on a carried that gives you a strong signal where your at you should be just fine with 14 - 18 hours on a single charge and 3 - 4 hours of actual screen on time..... Not exactly the best in the world but I do sleep at least six hours a day and the phone can charge/rest then...
Agreed, but that's a tough sell for $650. Not saying they duped us (I knew the panel sucked and bought it outright anyways), but they'll be able to move more devices at that price point with a spec sheet that lists Quad HD instead of 1080p.

What gets me is they were talking up project Volta with lollipop and now it seems its not doing that much with the Nexus 6.
Is it really the display that is knocking the battery down or could it be a little bit of something else on the software side that an update could somewhat remedy.

I think we will see battery improvements as they release patches and updates to 5.0... However it's not like one day your going to go from 17 hours off the charger with 3 hours of screen on time to 34 hours off the charger and 8 hours of screen time.... 5.0 is new and they did their testing with it and the 6 but until it's in the hands of thousands and thousands and thousands of customers running around in a vastly different types of markets, carriers and usage they don't really know what they have fully.... One major draw back to "Early Adoption" of any device or software update...
Nexus fans love the whole "We get it first" mantra but with that comes the problems, bugs and fixes too......
Oh it's definitely both. My money is that it's split more on the side of the display than software, but they're fully capable of increasing the battery life on this phone via software tweaks. Hope they do.

Wow, it looks like that's going to be a nice car dock. I just bought a Qi car dock off of Amazon. I guess it will have to go in my other car when the TYLT one come out.

And here's another kick in the teeth. I was just looking at the Note 4. For all the complaints about the capacitative v on-screen buttons, you lose about 1/3 inch VERTICAL with on-screen. Meaning that though the N6 has the larger screen, it is essentially equal to the screen on the Note (which measures almost exactly 1/3 inch smaller on the diagonal).. Might even be smaller.
Then, there is the fact that the Note battery seems to beat the N today. And IF 5.0 does improve efficiency, the Note will be that much better, as will the Droid Turbo.
More reason for me to throw in the towel on the N and get the VZW Turbo. It has those dastardly capacitative buttons, but the usable screen will be about the same as a 5.5-5.6" with on screen buttons. And that ain't worth having the KitKat icons forever, nor does reaching over to get to them in landscape bother me in the slightest.
Now that the battery data is coming in luke warm at best, I may decide to go with the Turbo without waiting to try the N. I have a Moto order due by 12/9, and some of the 12/2 scheduled people have their shipping notices in hand. I'd sell it for what I paid + shipping. PM if interested and I'll be in touch........
