No, I didn't get a notification. After restarting and placing on the charger I hit "system updates" and instead of saying my watch was up to date it said "downloading".
I assume this is like phones, it's not pushed out to all devices at one time.

Got it in the UK after two factory resets. One of the best changes for me is that the reddish hue has gone from the blacks.

I was almost right with 29 days to go. Just to confirm factory resetting as described above is permitting me downloading the update. Thanks for the tip

For those that did a factory reset and then got the OTA update, what exactly did you do? Did you uninstall Android Wear from your phone or did you just select "factory reset" on the watch?

I didn't uninstall Android Wear. I did a factory reset, then from Android Wear, selected to connect to a new device, and reconnected to my watch. Then I left my watch on the charger for a while. Then while it was still on the charger, I swiped the time/charging screen to the right, went into settings and about/system update. It found one and took about 2 hours to download.

You can set it to give you sound for notifications if you want.

Mine came through a few days ago (Sydney, Australia), a notification appeared on the watch and it updated quite quickly - maybe 10 minutes including updating the app settings.
Then the watch crashed, big time, yesterday. Froze on the Stopwatch screen. Eventually got it going, with a full factory reset required, and had to Forget that watch and re-pair with the phone, a Nexus 5. Maybe it was coincidence, could have been something else other than Android Wear 1.4 causing this. If so, no idea what.

For other watches I would agree with this statement. But for our Huawei Watch it was a GREAT update!

I guess if you're using the voice/speak from the watch feature. What else are you loving about the speaker? Just curious since for me, I haven't found that much better.
Yeah, the big thing for me is the speaker phone. I work in a home office a lot and being able to use it as a speaker phone is awesome. The only thing people have mentioned is that they can hear me typing quite well while on a call.
I don't get all the new gestures. Trying to use them makes me look like I'm trying to shake a bee off my arm.
