Who here is keeping their Gear S2?

Well after reading all these comments I'm not sure what my reaction will be when I get mine. According to usps it's on the truck to be delivered today. Can't wait!

It is a really nice piece or hardware. And the UI is really good. My main concern is that it doesn't have some important hooks into Google, like Google Now, Google Maps, Google Navigation, and Keep, for example.

Got mine today. Nice hardware and so far I'm pleased with it. A friend of mine has an apple watch and shows off the features but it's no big deal. I remind him he paid a little more than me. Lol

Yep, the gen 2 is better hardware for sure. But, it is the same boring Android Wear experience that you can have for $100-$150 on other watches, including the original Moto 360. If you love Google Now, go for it. I am sold on the Gear S2 and Tizen.

I have owned every Samsung Gear watch offered (except the Android Wear version). I also own and have used the Moto 360 and the original Peeble. The Gear S2 is Samsung's best offering to date and IMO, the best smartwatch available right now. Android Wear is simply a vehicle for Google Now which is not always welcome on a watch and, let's face it, it's boring. The new Tizen operating system has been upgraded significantly and it works great, particularly notifications - which is why I have a smartwatch (the rotating bezel is brilliant too). All of this discussion about apps or the lack of them is meaningless. Most apps suck on any smartwatch, period. There is no perfect smartwatch available. I wish this watch was a little larger, had more style options and a speaker along with better voice recognition - but I would highly recommend the Gear S2 - it does what a smartwatch should do well. It is easy to use and very functional.

YES, I am keeping mine. I may have an advantage because I had never used the AW before. But to make sure, I tried the Moto 360 2nd gen and I hated the AW....too much swiping all the time. I then got the ASUS ZenWatch 2 and it was even worse because you could NOT see it outside on a sunny day. After returning both of those, I settled with the S2 and I LOVE it. I think it operates so smoothly, with no lagging like on the AW. The screen brightness is perfect in the daylight and even with the brightness turned down to a 4, it is plenty bright indoors. I am still getting familiar with some of the functions, but I like it well enough to be getting the Classic ALSO. I am a woman that has been looking for a smartwatch that looks decent on my arm, and I have finally found it. Yes, I would prefer it be smaller and I think that will happen in one of the next rounds....hopefully the very next. I have the silver/white and really want the red band when that becomes available and I like the idea of being able to change the band on the Classic. Unfortunately, Samsung says the Classic won't be available till Nov 5 and then of course there will be processing time. I am hopeful to have it also sometime mid Nov.

Thanks for the input. What concerns me about apps is that I won't be able to get google maps notifications while I'm in the car or start a new navigation, won't be able to enter some quick calories in my fitness pal, stuff like that.

I don't have an S2 yet, but I realize that AW is in such an infancy, that if it does actually take off, it will be at a point in time in the future when the Gear S2 is totally outdated, in which case Samsung can switch back without issue. I do think that will be the end state.

IMO - Android Wear is superior to Tizen as it stands on the Gear S2. I don't think AW is in its infancy. It's a toddler. (trying to keep that concept going). I think it just has relatively weak adoption. The watches need to be thinner. Right now, they are just chunky. The S2 succeeds in its form factor.

I'm on my 8th day with the S2 and I love the way it looks... its size... the wheel interface is so cool and the screen is beautiful but I'm wondering if I just bought a $300 device to show me notifications.

I put on my Urbane (AW) tonight. I miss the apps and the functionality. I think I'm going to wear it tomorrow. First day since I got the S2.

I've moved into a state of questioning whether I'll keep the S2. It's about 50/50 now.

Paul Q, at least the non-turning bezel you'll repeatedly try to turn today will be round. When I put on my Gear Live, I'm trying to turn a rectangle all day, lol. It's amazing how quickly we get used to the S2 bezel, and how much it's missed when absent.

I'm definitely keeping my s2 classic. First and foremost I have girly thin wrists (I'm a dude) and it's the first watch that doesn't look like oversized bling.

I love the UI. My wife has an urbane and I don't really like the Android wear interface, although it certainly has some superior functionality in some regards.

The thing is new so hopefully samsung will roll out some more cool stuff in the near future.

And holy moses the battery on this thing just won't die. I expected an annoying discharge rate.

I returned my S2 for a Moto 360 (Gen 2) and ended up returning the Moto and bought another S2. These were my first smart watches so it really was more about Tizen vs. Android Wear and I preferred Tizen for the notifications. It was way too much swiping for me with AW. I felt I would constantly be swiping away notifications on the main watch screen to see the full face and it got exhausting. I'm at my computer a lot of the day and I would see the notifications on my watch that I had already dealt with hours ago but never swiped away.

The S2 is far from perfect but it is much better for me than AW was. If you know and like AW I thought the Moto was a very nice looking watch. One of my big complaints with my original S2 was the step counter being so low. That seems to be fixed with the latest firmware. Now they just need to get the weather updating properly...

Weird that my step counter still seems to be counting 25% less steps than my Gear Fit and Gear Live, even after the firmware update that was released this week. This undercounting, and a lack of a speaker (which I was well aware of before purchasing, and am aware is on the 3g version) are my two main disappointments with this otherwise excellent watch. (ok, ok, and the lack of Google Now voice function).

Guess I'll chime in. I am a Band user and am using the Band 2. Do I dare say, it runs better on Android than on Windows Phone?

But I got curious about the Gear S2, so about to check it out. It has a lot more "fun" features than the Band 2 but the Band 2 seems like the perfect balance of excellent "Health" options and notifications.
