Who here is keeping their Gear S2?

I was just curious how many people here are keeping their watch vs how many are disappointed and returning it. I've pretty much decided that I'm going to take it back. I was hoping that it would be a nice alternative to AW but for me it just doesn't do enough to convince me that the $300+ dollars is worth it over my original Zenwatch that costs half as much. I'll give it that it looks better but for my use case it doesn't do anything well enough to convince me to go without the apps that I like to use that AW supports. Its a good watch just not for me, how about the rest of you?

I had the Gear S2 for a day and returned it. I decided to pick up the original Gear S instead as it's only $99 right now at Best Buy. I like the bigger screen. It's easier to type on and I don't feel like I'm using an old-school cell phone by having to press a key a few times to get a letter I want.

I may be returning it. I'm holding out a little longer for an update. My steps are really off.

I have worn my fitbit and s2 together today. While I walked, I took my phone and noticed a huge difference.

Today's steps by device:
S2 7,824
Fit bit 23,771
Phone 15,697

I did not have my phone with me for the entire day, just during my walk. I feel the fitbit count is close. I have tested the phone and fitbit together and noticed immaterial differences. How can this smartwatch be this bad? I posted a daily summary in another thread about the pedometer being off. It has been around 50 percent off.

50% is definitely worrying. I'm worried enough that my S2 is 25% lower than my Android Wear Gear Live (I consider pretty accurate) and 20% lower than my Gear Fit (I consider conservative).

3 days in and I'm really digging this watch.

I've had way too many smartwatches and I love the animations on the S2. It feels more polished than Android Wear. I feel like it's the closest experience to the Apple Watch on Android, which is good and bad.

Ok. Here is my journey.

Bought S2 last Friday. Quite liked it, especially the speed and fluidity of the OS. Bought a Moto 360 v2 to compare.
I have used the Zen Watch for the last year so quite used to Android Wear. Wanted to see how it performed on the 360.
Better indeed than the Zen but overall disappointed. Laggy and not fluid compared to the S2. The screen was disappointing. Didn't like how the ambient mode worked when set to automatic. Often way too dark for me. Also, that flat tire makes many watch faces look pathetic. I am definitely not a fan of it and couldn't get my mind around it.

I returned the 360 today. No regrets.

I still have the S2. Yesterday bought a Note 5 (loving it). Had originally been connected to the Moto X 2014.
Definitely way easier to connect. Wifi was turned on automatically reading the data from the phone. Wifi with the Moto X
connection was quite problematic. Bluetooth using the Note 5 carries a much longer distance. A room in my house that always lost the signal with the Moto X maintained bluetooth even with the door closed with the Note 5. I haven't had the chance to see if bluetooth to wifi switching is more dependable with the Note 5.

One thing quite interesting is that my weather on the S2 which had been locking up till manually opening the weather app seems to be working fine with the Note 5.

I like this watch. App selection sucks. Watch faces are way too limited. Hopefully this will improve. But I like the OS. I wanted a sport watch with a rubber band (which is quite comfortable - hated the leather band of the 360). It does my notifications quite well. S Voice while definitely no Google Now has been mostly dependable and better than i expected and not the nightmare others complained of.

I plan to keep this watch. I don't love it yet Like I do my Note 5. But, it gets the job done and should only get better with time. When Android Wear becomes great I am sure I'll return as I will miss the eco-system and the freedom it maintains.

Hope this helps.

I picked up the Gear S2 Classic from Best Buy on Friday and am definitely going to keep it.

I do plan on replacing the leather band I'm not thrilled with how it looks but since the watch accepts standard 20mm bands that is no problem.

Pros:
Great design
Tizen UI is great with rotating bezel
Watch is very fast no lag
Very good battery life
Good notification support (at least with the Note 5)
Support for Samsung Pay (In November)
Support for standard 20mm watch bands

Cons:
Tizen OS has limited app support (this will hopefully improve over time)
Not happy with the included leather band

For me the lack of apps is not a deal breaker my primary wants are a good looking watch that has support for notifications and NFC payments.

It is kind of amazing just how good the OS is. That said, if Samsung is serious about this watch, and wearables in general, this watch is going to have to be really successful to get developers interested. I'm satisfied enough with S Health, but S Voice, not so much. Would like to be able to import my s health data into Google Fit, and really hope Samsung will give up on s voice, and embrace Google Now. I doubt it's impossible, just not how they're proceeding. Hope they're putting the marketing efforts into this and future Tizen watches that's needed to breakout of the niche interest that all their previous watches have encountered.

I returned my gear s2 and got a new moto 360, but I find myself missing the gear s2,and the truth is the moto 360 v2 isn't really impressive, because it seems to lag a grip and the colors on Android wear seem to be kinda ugly, I'm going to wait and see how I feel the day before my return period ends, and might hold off till the LG urbane 2 or get a gear s2 again.

Been running the S2 Classic for 10 days now. Keeping it for sure. Really happy with the OS, UI, and hardware. App Store needs work, but beyond that the functionality and stock apps suit my personal needs really well.

After a few days with my 360 v2 (once returning my S2).

S2 interface is smoother. Good job Tizen!
S2 ring is still a great idea (even if my ring became loose from an obvious defect)
360 app-pairing is way better. Just so much so.
Samsung fit app is slightly nicer than fit + moto health.
Google Fit automatically knows when I am riding my bike, jogging, etc... on the 360. That's cool.
As a mobile developer, it's far easier to develop for Android Wear. Tizen reminds me a little like blackberry in that the hoops to get started and the lack of documentation is annoying. I could see this being the biggest issue for S-watches. Unless you can make it easy for developers to adopt, you'll not get the support it needs.

Returned mine due to a dead battery out of the box, granted it was a used product. I'm still not sure how the Samsung employees could've sold me a bad unit...

Samsung Galaxy Note 5 (32 gigs+white) running on T-Mobile.

Well, I did it. Just returned my S2 to Best Buy. I've been going back and forth on it for over a week now, and I finally just decided I can't get over the (in my opinion) fundamental issues. If Samsung does a good, solid software update in the near future to fix some of the annoyances with S-voice, lack of apps and some other odd quirks, I might be back. But for now, I'm taking my $300 and waiting to see what the Moto Sport or the new LG Urbane LTE have to offer.

I was going to keep it but my bezel is now loose so I'm returning it and not getting another.

Maybe next year...

Pedometer undercounting by 20 to 25%, although fixable via software, may never be addressed by Samsung, so on the fence about keeping. Then I brilliantly updated my Nexus 5 to Marshmallow, and the Gear app to Marshmallow version, and now BT won't connect, so my last 5 days before potential return to Best Buy are a wait and see if Samsung addresses Gear app. Sigh...

Still on the fence here.

Saw over on "another" forum that there is a firmware update available for the watch but not details about what.

If that fixes the issues with S Voice, inconsistent notifications and some other issues I might keep or swap from the sport to the classic.

I'm keeping my Gear S2 Classic, which I picked up this past Saturday. I like the look, the bezel navigation is nice, and this is my first smartwatch, so I'm already feeling overwhelmed by the possibilities in terms of functions, apps, etc. (I turned off email notifications because it was just too much to have my watch buzzing at me all day.) I understand I may have bought a betamax, a device that seems great out of the gate but will atrophy from isolation in the coming year or two. It's fine for me now, and in the future, we'll just have to see what happens. I don't like using OK Google on my phone, even when it works well (which is not all the time), so the limitations of S Voice are not a big deal for me.

Things I would like to see would be an app that makes good and complete use of Google Maps -- I know Google won't provide it, but a third party could -- and something for todo lists/tasks. Google Keep integration would be ideal for me.

I returned mine after liking it less and using it less each day for 8 days. I liked the comfort, smooth UI and sharp colorful display. I didn't like how small the screen is at 1.2", many things were hard to read such as the stock battery indicator on the pull down menu, most complications on the watch faces. Changing the font to large in settings was useless. The rotating bezel was nice but mine was also getting somewhat loose, definitely changed from when I bought it. I was shocked at how appauling the app selection is. Samsung must have been counting the different colors of each watch face to get to 1000 available at launch. The stock weather app would not update on it's own, only when launched.
I didn't recieve several notifications for phone calls and a couple for texts. All emails came through. The last straw was S Voice on the watch ( I use it with fair success on a Note 4 ) - it worked at best 1 in 10. It just would not recognize a question and said so every time. I am currently looking at the Moto 360 46mm in hopes of better visability and better app selection.

Keeping my classic, love this thing. I prefer it over Android Wear (I have used everyone released - yes - every single one). AW has come a long way since it's launch, but is still not quite there for me. The S2 is smooth and easy to navigate and does what I need it to do. Screen is fantastic and performs great outdoors. For me, battery life has been even better than my Apple Watch. I would still rank the Apple Watch over the S2 just because of the speaker/call feature and app selection, but the S2 is darn close.

I've been to Best Buy 3 times now with the idea of walking out with the S2. Didn't have it or the demo the first time. After two times with the demo and reading reviews I can't do it. I've had a LG G Watch R for a year now and still enjoy it.

Give me the S2's design and interface with AW app support and I'd take it instantly.

I use Google voice controls on my G Watch R daily. I gave up on S Voice on my S6e the first day I bought it.

I bought a Gear S2 and a Huawei watch. I was planning on returning one of them.
The Huawei watch is a really nice looking watch. Android Wear may have a lot more apps and functionality, but I don't think I need that much functionality on a watch anyway. I find that the only thing I use a watch for is to track steps, exercise and to receive notifications. I don't think I'll ever use the voice commands (I don't even use that on the phone to be honest). I only need to quickly reply to a text message when I'm at a red light in my car (which S voice does fine).
All the apps that are on Android Wear or on Apple watch are useless. Do you really want to read CNN articles on your watch? Or look at Yelp reviews? I don't know why people care about the app count in the app store on your watch when you can just pull out your phone. Yet I see in every review, the Gear S2 receiving negative remarks due to lack of app support.
What I care about is the interface. I find the Gear S2 interface easier for notifications. Android wear makes you swipe all the time which gets tiresome. The S Health integration is good and I feel that S Health is quite underrated. Also the watch faces of gear S2 are more elegant with complications that are better done. Even though Android wear has many more watch faces, didn't find many that were as good.
However, there are few things that Android Wear does better. The google play music integration. Endomondo app for working out.

I am still undecided. I will return both of them. I will get a Gear S2 Classic when I find one. I might eventually buy an LG watch urbane 2 LTE for the google play music and for exercising.
