Who is getting the Pixel Stand?

I am.......I have 40 bucks in Best Buy rewards to use before 11/30 so that will drop the price down to about 40 bucks. Yessir

According to an article I read (I believe it was the Tom's Guide's review of the Pixel 3) they said that the Pixel stand wirelessly fast charges the Pixel 3 (at 10W). Any other wireless charger will only charge the Pixel 3 at 5W, aka slow charging. Something to keep in mind.

I have used the 3XL with other wireless charges and the phone indicates that it is rapidly charging.

I was using it as bed stand but taking to office today and use it there instead since it'll probably be more useful during daytime than at night. I'll probably pick one more up later for home when it's on sale or I get my $50 store credit until then back to Samsung wireless charger for bedside charging.

And here's the pertinent text:
"The phone can also recharge wirelessly at 10 watts through Google's Pixel Stand. (Though the Pixel 3 will accept only up to 5 watts from third-party Qi chargers.)"

So while may say say it's charging rapidly on a 3rd party charger, it's charging at half the wattage as on the Pixel Stand, per this article.

I can't pay $80 for the stand. I think I am going to hold out and see what the holiday specials bring. My guess is there is a good chance at half price or BOGO. I'd feel better about that spend. Plus, we will have heard from all the folks that took the plunge early. I have a TYLT at the house I can use in the meantime.

Jeebus, Google. This is the kind of BS I'd expect from Apple. Adding features to the Google stand is fine, but purposely crippling third-party chargers? smdh

Well that would explain why on my Samsung fast charger it wasn't going all that fast. They pixel stand is enroute though. Should be here next week.

This is BS if it's true. I ordered a wireless car charger already. And planning to get the third party wireless chargers from Costco.

I got the stand and it wasn't working..... Turns out you have to plug it in..... I guess it's not really Wireless....lol🤣😂🤣😂

Other brands do fast charge without having 79 buck price tag unless pixel stand feature is a deal breaker

Those other brands won't fast charge a Pixel. The stand also has other Google features built in....is it worth the price? That's up to the individual. Seems a bit high but I don't care ...I bought it.

I think only the Pixel stand can do the 10W (others will do 5W for the Pixel). I believe Samsung phones do something similar but I could be wrong.

that's really sucks. especially there is no google wireless car charger and you have to use third party for that. fast charging is more important in the car since the screen will be on the whole time and possibly GPS. Can 5W even be able to keep the phone battery from depleting with all that going on?

I've never had a problem in the car running GPS and Spotify the same time with a conventional charger

A standard Qi charger will keep up with my pixel 2 xl using an external Qi charging receiver when I navigate and playing a podcast to the car.

I use the iOttie Easy touch wireless Qi charger. Love it

I really didn't feel that the Pixel charging stand was a necessity, not something I had to have, but, after a good deal of waffling around, I ended up getting it anyway. Dang! This thing is amazing! You don't need to be careful about setting the phone down just exactly right, just set it down on the charger and let 'er rip. And it charges really fast!

After using the Pixel stand, I know I wouldn't be happy with a different charger, even though a different charger would be less costly.

Could you do some testing with a charging app like Ampere, to see if it's really charging as (or nearly as) quickly? There was similar debate about "turbocharging" with the Moto Z's when they came out, and arguments about compatible fast chargers. Ampere (and probably similar apps) will actually show the current charge/discharge rate.
