I'll glady exchange my Xoom 1 on contract for a Xoom 2 on contract (With no cost to me) if they can't get LTE working in the Xoom 1. I've been on contract since launch day 2/24/11. I'm starting to get a bit peeved......
If they do not upgrade my Xoom, or replace it with a 4G LTE, I personally will never ever, purchase another Motorola product.
At least for me, they are skating on thin ice. They sent me an email telling me my Xoom would be upgraded sometime in the 2nd quarter, but that hasn't happened. In my opinion if they do not upgrade the Xoom, as claimed, then they have made a bait and switch move. For me, that is a company not worthy of anything but contempt.
nowhereIf you check out the Motorola site, you don't even see them mention LTE anywhere for the Xoom anymore.
I'm really starting to think that realistically, Motorola will replace all those who currently have 3G Xooms with the new version that is upcoming. I think it might be worth it for them to go that route than pay for shipping to and from each buyer, and then pay for a technician to basically re-manufacture the device. Plus, it would instantly turn the tide on all the negativity surrounding the Xoom.
I think this may be why there is a delay in the upgrade process--because they are waiting for approval from the FCC to begin manufacturing the new Xoom and send it out.
Would be nice if you are correct. All we can do is wait and see as anything we say is purely conjecture at this point. I do know that a rebate off of the cost of the new one would not be acceptable to me.
If they do not put the LTE radio in the current Xoom model then VZW and Moto should give each one of you guys a mobile hotspot for free or very cheap with NO contract.
I don't think that Motorola as a corporation has the character or integrity to actually do that. The fact that they have been unwilling to communicate with their customers, after they paid hundreds of dollars for this device does not give me any confidence in them to do the right thing.I'm really starting to think that realistically, Motorola will replace all those who currently have 3G Xooms with the new version that is upcoming.
