For those who are saying rooting or unlocking bootloader will void warranty but that is not completely true.
I've rooted and bootloader unlocked and had to RMA for display color inconsistency. I was being honest with the representative and told my phone was rooted and bootloader unlocked. The google guy said Google doesn't care what you do with your phone. If it's the hardware defect then they'll honor the warranty replacement. So I sent my phone with root and bootloader unlocked and received a replacement.
This might be the different story if you bought it from retailers other than Google play store.
Seems like Google is encouraging people to do whatever they wish on the phone since developers build their apps based on Google branded phones.
To make my story short, Google didn't care weather my phone was tempered with or not (software) and replaced my phone and sent mine with rooted and unlocked bootloader. But I gave them with stock ROM.
