I also feel like they are running out of things to do to these phones. ....
I remember back in the day when phones used to actually have features that seemed exciting, and actually made improvements.

Those days are gone. I don't think I'm going to get s25 Ultra.

I almost bit on a Fold. Samsung was recently running a promotion that really brought the price way down low with a trade-in of my 23 ultra.

But I am not even sure I want a fold. So I threw a glass of water in my face. I slapped my wrist. And I said, "have you lost your mind?"

Usually these remedies do not work, as the addiction of upgrade-itis is powerful, but this time it did.

The price would have to come way down for me to get a 25 ultra. I'm not expecting the price to come way down. Unless the 26 is about to come out. At which point, I would probably buy the 26.

I have upgraded EVERY year for as long as I can remember. For one reason or another. Usually it's generational upgrades in camera tech. Not so much the last couple upgrades, they have been incremental bumps . Now I mostly opt to upgrade because Samsung's GENEROUS trade in offers coupled with free early order offers PLUS my employee discount. It's usually only a couple hundred bucks to get the latest and greatest. Hard not too, This year I can't imagine what they can do to keep that going, Especially since I already have One UI 7 (beta). So far just the promise of a "Tiny bit better camera" isn't going to cut it for me.

I am seriously thinking that the S25 Ultra will be my next phone if the rumored satellite messaging turns out to be true. And definitely if the satellite connectivity isn't tied to a carrier and will work throughout North America.

Samsung’s Satellite Surprise: Galaxy S25 Ultra gets it, others don’t

Here's to hoping that the Samsung trade-in program in January is exceptional for us long-time Galaxy users!

I never paid attention to GoodLock when I had the Flip 3 & 4, which is why I skipped 5. This is why I got the 6 because of GoodLock and why I don't see myself going back to the S series.

I also have the iPhone 15PM and Pixel 9P XL.

Carrying two 6.8" phones is hard. This is where the Flip's portability comes in handy.

I am just curious to who is straight up planning on upgrading to the S25 Ultra?
Obviously this is my own subjective opinion, but if you ask me, unless you have a specific need to or use a device that's older than the Note 20 Ultra or S21 Ultra, I don't really think it's necessary. Like I said, this is my personal opinion.

I also feel like they are running out of things to do to these phones. Slightly better camera, better battery life, usually brighter screen. Newer design this time around, unlike the S22U, S23U and S24U. Seems like year after year, Samsung is just releasing the same device with minimal "upgrades" or improvements IMO.

I remember back in the day when phones used to actually have features that seemed exciting, and actually made improvements. I am thinking headphone jacks, camera options, SD cards, etc.

If someone has the S23U or S24U, is it really necessary? I look at my S21 Ultra and after having it for two years now, it still does everything I need it to. The screen is still excellent, and the camera is probably the best I've used on a phone. I think this is the first time after this amount of time I've gone through two years of having a device and not really seeing a need to upgrade to something new. I don't care about the S-pen, so I really see no need either to have a newer "S" device.

Is it strictly a financial thing? My wife has the S22 Ultra, and she probably won't want to buy another device for maybe two or three years.
A lot of personal opinion for someone who definitely doesn't bring me a penny for anything I buy... Many around here change their phones as they change their underwear and we all comment but do not criticize.

I received a message from tmobile offering as Beta the starlink service for satellite text, it would be free during the trial period but it will surely have a cost like any other service when the tests are finished, why should be free and if so.. Who should sponsor that service?

Yeah and its just that, my personal opinion. You're entitled to yours, so shove off instead of criticizing mine.

I'd pay about $200 to upgrade to a s25u from n10+.
If it had a perfect camera, maybe another $150-200.
I really want:
-near-perfect camera. Less software intrusion. Don't care about specs, telephoto zoom, 4k/8k video etc. I just want to take outdoor/indoor pictures, perfect 9.5 out of 10 times.
-1.5-2 day battery

I don't care about processing power, or gaming power. I guess it's cool for DEX, or video game emulation, or mobile gaming. I don't think I need the power/RAM.

Maybe they should make a s25u, top of the line CPU + camera etc., for enthusiasts. And then camera + battery version for casuals. I really don't need to stream 8k content on a 4k screen at 240hz. I'd rather have a phone that could last 1.5 days, or like 12+ hours SOT, and doesn't cost an arm & a leg.

Maybe improved bluetooth would be nice. I'm not really sure what the newer versions are like.

Lower power bluetooth, wifi, cell antennas, etc.

Idk if fingerprint ever got solved. Seems like none of my in-screen fingerprint phones have worked for more than a few months without needing re-registering.

Better drop protection, and waterproofing.

Less weight.

Better antitheft protections.

Faster wired/wireless charging, if it doesn't destroy battery memory. But the current >60% <30 minutes isn't terrible. Just a lot slower than Chinese phones (but they may have longevity problems)

More customizations. Nova launcher style. Better file explorer. Idc about AI, I can do that myself.

Oh well, we'll see how the launch goes. I didn't miss much with the s21, s22, s23, s24, something tells me this won't be any different. I guess the Sony Xperia is doing some cool stuff this generation. Pricey too though.
