Who is returning and why?

Funny. I broke my 6T and got the S10+ to play with until the OnePlus 7 or Huawei P30 pro came out and had it pre-sold to a friend for a couple hundred off. Now I'm not sure... I like this thing. If they get a few camera improvements in an update before mid April I may stick with it.

If the OnePlus 7 renders are to be believed, I'm really not feeling that mechanical, rising front camera. I'd rather they stuck with the 6T's design. But I digress.

Same here. Not a fan cause sooner or later something is bound to go wrong with the motor/spring system.

On paper, yes. But if you have an s9+ to compare in real life you'll know.

I had an S9+ that I sold Friday afternoon. Having owned the S9+ and now my S10+, I think the S10+ is much better and faster. I have the ceramic white edition which has 12GB RAM and I think it makes all the difference in my usage especially when scrolling through pages with enormous amounts of images. There's no lag and no stuttering in the scrolling.

I think a ton of people who upgraded from the S9+ to the S10+ will agree the S10+ is better. The only thing I don't like is the fingerprint scanner and I've disabled it and just swipe to unlock to use my phone. I did the same thing with my S9+ and my Note 9. It works for me.

Cellular speeds are also increased on the S10+ at least for me on AT&T.

I returned mine because I couldn’t send or receive pics. I had an unlocked S10+ and Verizon is my carrier. Spoke with Verizon and Samsung reps and they couldn’t resolve the issue. So decided to return it. Let’s see what the Note 10 brings.

The S10 has the following over the S9.

1. Better cameras
2. Ultra wide camera
3. Better screen with the first HDR10.
4. Better design, edge to edge display with no borders.
5. Wireless charging 2.0
6. Reverse wireless charging.
7. More Ram
8. More Storage
9. Ceramic models.
10. Faster processor
11. Faster wifi antennas
12. Bigger Batteries
13. Lighter weight
14. In Screen FPS

Not all of those are improvements. Bigger battery, sure. Lighter weight, maybe interesting. A half an ounce is a half an ounce. But is it meaningful?

In screen FPS is not an improvement.

Most of the other changes aren't meaningful--AND they cost $450 at minimum to achieve. That's what's meant by not much of an improvement, if any, over the S9+.

Notification volume is adjustable

Not at ALL to the same degree on the S10 compared to the S9.

On the S10, the volume gets down to about 20% and stays there no matter how much further you put the slider. Its lowest volume is WAY WAY louder than the S9, and it's unacceptable.

The S9+ is still an awesome phone...and its fps worked better for me.

They may not be meaningful to you but may be meaningful to others. Everyone values something different. I can tell you for one having a ceramic model means a lot to me. Does it make a difference in usage. Nope. But personally it's a upgrade to me in build quality. I really like it. Point is everyone sees something as value or improvement in a different way.

Now I understand what your getting it.

I've been waiting for a major branded Ceramic backed phone to come out for a while. Now all we need is a screen just as tough.

Hope they can find the right balance between tough and scratch resistant screen . Without any screen protector on my screens would be easy scratch as I can already see it on film type Samsung supplied .

Still undecided whether I am returning. Only thing I am not liking is camera - indoor shots of moving subjects (kids, pets, etc), even if only slightly moving, are a blurry, noisy mess! The pics look weird, almost have a water painting like look to them and lack detail. Also the focus seems to be off... subject I am trying to focus on is blurry while background or foreground objects are not (perhaps its because these objects are not moving??)

Coming from the Pixel (2 XL then 3) I had this same experience when I tried the Note 9. Thought I needed to give it sometime / give myself a learning curve seeing the Pixel cameras are an effortless point and shoot experience and 99.999% of the shots are excellent. Sadly with the Note 9 it never improved for me and I eventually returned the Note 9. Figured I'd give the S10 line a shot with the new camera setup but sadly I am seeing the same thing I did with the Note 9. Love the camera app features and options and it's certainly fun to play with, but most my pics are indoors, so if I can't get happy with the pic results I see with my 2 week return window I foresee myself returning my S10+ and going back to the Pixel 3.

The camera so far is definitely better then the note 9. I was not impressed with the camera on the note 9

I'm also coming from 2XL and 3XL and I'm actually pleased so far with the results but I'll have to do some comparisons.

And there you have it. Drop the phone, and the screen still breaks--no matter what the back is made of.

I have the Feb 1st update. How do I know if I have the update for the fingerprint scanner? I'm on Verizon.

I'm on AT&T. The FPS update may be carrier dependent. When I got my GS10+ at Best Buy after searching five company stores, I checked for an update and there was a rather large update, not if Samsung or carrier pushed.
