Who made the switch?

I currently have the Thunderbolt and am contemplating gettin the SGS III. I currently have unlimited data so I am thinking in order to keep unlimited data I will buy the phone outright Heer are a few questions.

1. Where is the best place to buy this phone (price wise)
2. can I get Insurance like I have now from verizon for this phone if i don't get it from verizon?

Came over from the Bionic and I must say as much as every body talks about Moto's build quality and radio's, this SIII has REALLY impressed me...hell,no squeaky door good solid feel and I haven't dropped a call or lost data since I had it and it's been near 4 weeks. I was going to wait for the Droid Razr HD...but I'm glad I didn't:cool:

I lost my DroidX last week in Reno (found out yesterday it was returned the night I lost it) and bought this one. Awesome phone except that many times my phone has a slight delay when I press a widget. Speaking of widgets does anyone know if there is a quick dial widget like the Motorola Droids? I love being able to put a contact on my home screen and the phone and sms icon is right there.

I switched from a GNex and am very happy with the S3. Great battery life and blazing fast...all it needs is Jelly Bean and some good ROMs.

I am not sure what the Droids have but you can use the direct dial widget or download Android Pro Widgets from the Play Store. The free version will give you a nice contacts widget.

I wonder how much more the S3 would sell if it used vanilla android.

Went from the Thunderbolt to the S3. I didn't have any issues with the Thunderbolt. I just wanted something new and decided to go with the Samsung Galaxy S III. Ended up buying the S3 brand new, off-contract so that I can keep my unlimited data plan. I'm really, really liking this S3. It's truly an excellent phone.

I left Sprint what a crappy joke of a network they were! I had the galaxy epic touch and now have the galaxy s3. I love this phone and the network behind it. I think this will last me at least 2 years before I need to upgrade. The phone is awesome!

1. Try swappa.com or head over to the marketplace forums here on AC. I've bought and sold on swappa and it's a great place to do business.

2. I've never had issues with insurance even when I didn't buy the device from Verizon. I am pretty sure that as long as the phone is being used on the line, and you don't file a claim 2 days after you add it, you should be fine.

Probably about the same. The SII was a very highly selling phone and it was running a more intrusive version of TouchWiz. The general consumers does not care about stock versus themed.

I'm on an Inc2 and thinking of trying to see if I can get Verizon to give me a deal or early upgrade since my upgrade is not until December and currently there doesn't seem to be a ton coming out between now and then. Plus knowing the typical CES/MWC delays it could be MONTHS before stuff would actually come out during those time frames.

I ditched my Bionic for this one.

Reasons for the switch:
1. I never could get used to the pentile screen...would cause eye strain from time to time when scrolling through web pages and reading e-mail. The new screen is an immense improvement despite not being as good in direct sunlight.

2. The headphone audio quality for Bionic SUCKS SUCKS SUCKS....worst audio from any device I have ever owned. The GS3 audio is superb and now I can stream my google play music library without getting annoyed.

3. Battery life when using LTE was absolutely terrible. I FTP into my office to download large files when I'm on the go and my battery just dies so fast...I can kill my battery and the replacement battery just like that. I'm always hunting for wifi connections. It also made it so I couldn't stream music from google play (even though i didn't even want to because the headphone audio quality sucks).

4. The Bionic is thicker, heavier and "chunkier". After quickly adjusting to the GS3's weight and dimensions, I sort of forgot about my Bionic. I grabbed for my Bionic this morning and couldn't believe how much heavier and chunkier it was. As an example: when the Bionic was in my jean pocket (I wear slim-straights), I definitely noticed it was there and it would bulge out a little bit. I would never attempt to wear skinny jeans with a Bionic. But....I DO NOT EVEN NOTICE THE GS3 IN MY JEAN POCKET. A couple times already, I've had to check to make sure it was even there. For such a big phone, that's just awesome. The thickness and weight really makes a difference.

5. The "Don't call it motoblur" UI is a joke...nothing more than eye candy with no really useful additional features. It's a useless memory hog imo....and it often stands in the way of apps I would prefer to use from the market. I've messed around with some leaked ICS builds on the Bionic and it has improved dramatically...but still not as nice as Samsungs UI.

6. I like turtles.

Just got the s3 today after going from my rezound to a razr. So far I like it. Still trying to reload all my apps, and gt used to the format. I like sense but this is ok for me right now.

My previous phone was the HTC Thunderbolt, no complains. Now I have the S3 and I love it.

Ok I did it, I called Verizon today and talked them into letting me upgrade my Thunderbolt (contract is up in October) to the GS3. I will be getting it Tuesday. I did change my plan from unlimited data to 4gb of data and unlimited calls, texts. I don't use my phone for hot spots since 99% of the places I go to has wifi. So i'm not worried about going over.

Switched from galaxy nexus jelly bean :) to galaxy s3 none jelly bean :( haha but still love it ;)

Verizon Galaxy S3!!
