Who's active with a LG G6?

I had been a long time SwiftKey user, but tried out Gboard last year, and never looked back. While I think SwiftKey still has a better prediction engine, the additional features of having Google search baked in sold me. Gboard predictions have improved as well. SwiftKey had developed some serious lag as well, and was more of a memory hog than Gboard.

I agree with you - I had used SwiftKey for years and after a while, I found it to be a little heavy.

using G6 SINCE April now and still love it...I was using it with honor 8 pro...just few days ago sold honor 8 pro and gave in to temptation and got Samsung Note 8...totally loving both PHONES...

I'm still using mine, and I'm still extremely happy with it. I haven't had any issues, so I really haven't had a need to post in the forums about it. Just patiently awaiting Oreo.

Work phone and personal phone?

Both are personal PHONES...just used differently...But daily driver is Note 8 and 2nd G6...G6 few calls mainly for streaming apps to tv to watch Netflix via chrome cast...and other stuff and obv g6 camera when required

It's a shame that the G6 doesn't get the credit it deserves and that it isn't more popular. The forums also aren't as active. No one's fault really but I wish that it gained an equal respect in the mobile world. It's a great device and it would be sad to see this style and model in general go away due to poor sales

I agree, the G6 is so underrated and it's unfortunate that it doesn't get the respect it deserves. However, one can also assume that the forums are a bit on the inactive side because there are less people with device issues posting there (people are more likely to post about complaints and/or issues with products than they are to post praise reports).

But I do see what you're saying. I'm still tempted by the G6, myself. The only reason why I won't get it this time around is because I had a G3 before my current phone; and I like to swap manufacturers every couple of upgrade cycles.

Hi all, I know I'm new to the forum here but I've been lurking around awhile, I purchased my G6 on a black Friday sale and wanted to use it for awhile before I gave my 2 cents. I've been a big Samsung user in the past, all the way back to the S3. I think my favorite was the note 4, loved that phone and would probably still use it today if not for the fact that I fried it, along with a 128GB SD card, after getting it soaked. Took over my wife's LG G3 so she could return to Apple (as far as android, she was one and done, lol). So I was fully expecting to buy a Samsung S8 or Note 8 when black Friday rolled around. Well, I wasn't too impressed with the deals for Samsung products on black Friday to say the least. I'm sorry but I can't justify paying upwards of a grand for a phone. I'm not judging anyone who does, just ain't for me. I'm probably a little older than a lot of you here and I can tell you I've definitely, in my younger days, been one who wanted the latest and greatest and there is nothing wrong with that. As for me I'm done chasing the technology dragon, lol. So when I saw this phone offered for $120.00 all in, especially only being out for about seven months, I looked at as many reviews as I could find and was surprised at all the positive reviews. Now I know full well that Samsung and Apple get the lion share of the market hype and ink from the reviewers and maybe with good reason. They put out great products. But after using the G6 for a few weeks now, I am thoroughly impressed. Is it the best? Probably not. But it is a very capable and solid phone phone that, in my opinion, can stand toe to toe with the best out there right now. With everything this phone has to offer for the price that it's being offered, plus a two year warranty it was a true bargain. To tell you the truth, it's the first phone I didn't bother getting insurance on either. for the price of the insurance and any deductible I'd have to pay, I decided against it.

Wow, $120 for the LG G6 is a great deal! I got mine for $580 and thought that was a good deal. I agree that paying close to $1000 USD for a smartphone is hard to swallow. Hope you enjoy your new phone!

Having previously owned the G4 and G5, I just couldn't get another LG phone without getting the insurance. It's just so much more convenient to be able to order a replacement, instead of sending off for repair.

Good plan on getting the insurance! I wonder if Canada has anything similar. I suppose one could always go through their carrier.

Welcome to the forums! Thank you for your wonderful review! So glad you are liking the phone!

Thanks everyone! Glad to be part of the community. I will say as for the insurance, It's the first time I ever opted to go without insurance on a phone. But in order to get something more than what the manufactures warranty would have given me, I would have to bought a complete protection plan that would cover loss or theft which is $11 a month from Best Buy, where I purchased the phone, probably more for my carrier based insurance. Plus, if I did put in a claim, it's $150.00 service fee. I will say that in the past it was an automatic "yes" for insurance and overall I'm a believer in having it. Another thing that made me kinda queasy about not having insurance was the fact that I did have problems with the G3. I lost wifi on the phone, which I believe was not uncommon to that model due to overheating issues. I didn't file a claim because I knew I wasn't keeping the phone and didn't want to put out the money for the service fee (aka deductible). I also agree with Jhilker that when using insurance for past phones, I never had a problem and I am not looking forward to having to deal with a manufacture claim. I would be interested to know if anyone has had to deal with LG and what their experience was (i.e. ease of dealing when submitting a claim and turnaround time for repairs). Thanks again!

I would like to know about the turnaround as well because I would like to file a claim for my non operable vibration motor

It's surprising that there is rivalry between any phone. I mean we find what suits us the most and buy it. I get that there will be buyer's remorse and the grass is greener effect.

I personally visit the forums because I enjoy sharing information with others about our chosen devices. Help out where we can and and catch helpful hints when provided.

I just don't get the bashing...

I can't agree more with this post. Written perfectly.

I just don't get the bashing...

There are lots of people in the world who think that because they made a choice that works for them, everybody else needs to make the same choice. When others who have made a different choice refuse to go along, these people have one of two reactions.

1. They feel the need to tell you, to the point of arguments and insults, why they made a better choice. They know their logic and decision making abilities are far superior and dammit, you WILL hear and obey. You will change your mind. They are right and you are wrong.
2. Butthurt happens. Why can't you understand how superior their choice was to yours? There must be something wrong with you. Cue arguments and insults.

Then there are normal people who like what they've got and if others have something different that they like, that's cool too. No need to argue, belittle, or insult.

I heard you have the first flip phone
In the late 90s, before cell phones were popular, I had this friend who had one. It was black plastic and about the size/shape of a cordless phone today. He was one of those guys who loved to go into a public place, like Walmart, and walk around loudly talking on the phone. It was annoying and comical at the same time. You'd be shopping with him and want to ask a question, but he was too busy talking on the phone to whoever. Usually some girl he was trying to impress. "Yeah, I'm in Walmart talking to you on my cell. Aren't I cool?" (Lol) People would walk up to him and say "well aren't you a big shot?" Mockingly, not impressed. But I think he enjoyed the attention. We drifted apart after a while but I can only imagine his chagrin when he realized that everyone was buying phones and he would no longer stand out.
