Who's running Stock/TouchWiz? Why?

I've used Nova for awhile, and I put it right back on my S9. Smart Switch copied my stock home screen configuration from my S7, but it wasn't complete, and I can't stand wasting the time to set up all of my home screens all over again. Nova backup/restore makes it take like one minute.

This is exactly why I install Nova on my devices... make a backup on the old device and save it to the SD card, move the card to new device, install Nova, restore. Easy peasy!

Sticking with Touchwiz because it does what I need to be honest with you. I've paid for Nova, Action Launcher and a few others, but I always come right back to stock. Clean, simple and gets me to where I need to go fast enough.

Ironically this is the reason I can't use stock TouchWiz. It's not clean nor simple enough and I can't get to what I use most fast enough.

I don't like a bunch of apps cluttering the look of a nice simple home screen as I like to be able to have a clean view of my wallpaper. Love using simple gestures and taps to get to my frequently used apps. A launcher is basically what Android freedom is all about to me.

I don't get what that has to do with Touchwiz. Simply remove the apps from the home screen and put whatever shortcuts you need in the edge screen, then you'll have your clean view of your wallpaper.

Edge screen solves just that problem. Your correct. Or leave the home screen clear and put apps on the second screen. So many options.

I've been using Nova Prime for years...until the s9+. The stock launcher is very smooth and I love that I now swipe up to "search phone". I couldn't find this feature on the Nova.

I am switching back and forth between the two launchers.

Also sticking with the stock launcher for the time being. Thought about switching, but I've been finding that the latest TW provides all the functionality that I need. I try not to carry around apps that I don't use, and like to have my phone be as lightweight and minimal as possible. So I'll just stick with TW until I need a different launcher.

Exactly! I'm actually pretty impressed with this iteration of TW w/Oreo. All the nuances and functionality of what I liked about Nova are finally here. I can have a clutter free homesceen! I can organize my app drawer with additional folders. The UI animations are nice, there's some pretty good icon packs in the Samsung store, and a dark theme rounds it all out. It feels strange after using Nova Prime for years but i wholeheartedly recommend giving it a go for those who are curious to see how the stock launcher has come along.

I have use nova for years and now all the new pixel xl and xl 2 launches modded etc. Now always coming back to samsung experience with my note 8 and gs9 plus. Is much smoother and it jist work. Plus the animation on opening apps are faster.

One thing people should know. Touchwiz launcher uses around 150mg ram. Even after installing a launcher like nova or other launcher and setting it has default, touchwiz will still be using the 150mg ram space running in the background. The only way to disable this (so ram can be use elsewhere) a package disabler and disable touchwiz all together.

The thing is that I like a clear home screen but I also like having easy one touch access to my apps. Don't like to switch to a different screen (edge or page) for my most commonly accessed apps, that's what I do for my secondary apps. My 15 most commonly used apps are all accessible with one touch, swipe or gesture on my main screen plus I hate having a ton of pages of apps so I put them all in my app drawer on one page because I can adjust icon size and grid number as well as being able to hide apps I'll never need to access but can't delete (settings, etc.).

Nice looking setup there. Very clean.

I just can't get into the edge screen feature. I totally disabled it on my S9 because when I'm in apps, I accidentally keep grabbing it when I don't want to. Not. Cool.

Can't you relocate the edge tab I thought it was movable

I can't believe how much I'm enjoying using the stock launcher. I can't believe I'm actually using stock wallpaper!!
After using Nova launcher Prime for years it feels really strange to join the masses hahaha. Here's my set up of home and app screens. I haven't Google play music widget and calendar widgets on another screen.
Over all, I am beyond stoked on Oreo. Everything finally seems tied together for the first time. My dark theme actually makes my dialer dark for once, etc.

T-Mobile gave me a great trade-in on a barely used iPhone SE, so I picked up an S9 yesterday to use on my second line. I may not install Nova on it this time... the stock launcher has improved significantly since I last used it (2 years ago on an S7 edge)!

There isn't a handle setting on my S9... I've been looking for it. Is it under display on the Note 8?
On the Note 8 you pull the edge panel open, click on the setting icon and that's where handle is

Thank you! Much appreciated... I use it a lot but didn't like it in the middle of the screen. Much better smaller & towards the top.

for people like creating there own set up screen, people like they own swipe gestures, using icon pack's, or you want your phone looking like Google Pixel launcher. just to have fun with your phone when your bored. you get addicted if you know how to use it properly like a Pro.
for most people TouchWiz (Stock OEM launcher) is fine.
