Who's switching from iPhone 6 /6s/plus to s7 edge

I'm using the phone without case and its working fine man. Battery life is awesome, i'm not sure why you having that issue. See screen capture.

To be fair, your screen time is less than Android OS, which means less than 17%. If you don't use your screen much, you will get great battery time.

Re: Unfortunately not for me :/

The fact that screen isn't listed in the top two shows you didn't use it very much.

Making phone calls, texting and facebook, tweet and other apps. I don't spent hours reading facebook.

Re: Unfortunately not for me :/

For some reason, on this phone "android system" seems like it always appears very high. Right now it's showing 21% on mine versus 14% for the screen, but my SOT is 3hrs 26 mins and I'm still at 43% battery. This is definitely different from any other phone I've had where the screen was by far the highest on the list.

One thing I'm noticing in this thread is how amazing iPhone 6 users think their battery life is/was. This seems to all be relative to past iPhones, which had terrible battery life despite a very static OS.

I think those users will find the S7 Edge's battery life to be quite good, adequate at worst. It won't exceed the battery life on a Windows Phone device (best in class as far as that goes), but it'll certainly exceed the battery life of almost every iPhone model, and most Androids with the possible except of the Sony Xperia line.

No, people are saying how good the 6s+ battery is because it is incredible. Not in a comparative way to past iPhone. Idle drain is near 0 and it bests my ineplus battery especially when doing any sort of gaming or video watching.

Actually no, they literally compared it to their iPhones...

I am l taking the leap of faith as I am over Apple trying to rule my life with their prehistoric control over my calendar and contacts? Might be seeking help in this forum for the answers to converting data etc.

I successfully did this from iPhone to s7e using a couple of apps and tinkering. Have you sorted it yet?

Just got the S7E, love the device and the experience so far. But for me to make it my primary the number one priority is migrating the WhatsApp chat history/backup from the iPhone. I've looked online and haven't found a solution.

WhatsApp on the iPhone backups to iCloud and as far as I know there is no way to restore that backup on the S7E.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers.

Well I was able to transfer WhatsApp with some caveats. For example, I have to get reinvited to all the groups, DP of contacts not showing up as my backup is around 1.4 GB. WhatsApp can only show DP of contacts if the database is 700mb or smaller. So now I have to delete all the media, and then manually retrieve each contacts DP, which is very very labourous.

Which apps did you use to transfer the data from iPhone?

What are your thoughts on iPhones

Do you think you will get one over the s7 or anytime soon and are you excited for the iphone 7

Re: What are your thoughts on iPhones

I used to have an iPhone 5 and ever since I switched to Samsung (currently have an S5, but I get my S7 Edge tomorrow!), I will never go back to Apple in terms of their phones (I have everything else Apple; MacBook Pro, iPad Mini 2, iPod). I will stick with Samsung from here on out.

Re: What are your thoughts on iPhones

I go back and forth every few years and really like the iPhones. I just switched to the S7 Edge from the iPhone 6+ as I wanted a change and to get away from iTunes for a while. Probably with the iPhone 8 in a year or 2 I will switch back, no interest at all in the iPhone 7.

Re: What are your thoughts on iPhones

Was using the iPhone 6s for a while to take a break from Google. Big mistake. Look, the iPhone works great in its own right, but android and the S7E is a no brainer right now.

So no. I will not be going back to the iPhone and from what I've read on news sites and other places, the iPhone 7 isn't going to be changing the world....so no, I'm not excited.

Re: What are your thoughts on iPhones

The iPhone works extremely well. I swap phones a lot. The thing with the iPhone for me anyway is it'd is becoming extremely stale.

The design and operating system hasn't changed much in years. There is no customization and the overall body style is the same.

Don't get me wrong. The iPhone is extremely fluid. The apps works well and overall the phones is great. Android and it's device manufactures keep upping the game while it seems apple continues its slow marching path but it works for them.

Re: What are your thoughts on iPhones

boring, drab, not for me, Ive tried twice, first was an iphone 5 that lasted for less than two weeks, then an iphone 6 that last 5 months, I do have to say, they just work! but they are not for me

Re: What are your thoughts on iPhones

I am not going to discuss the iPhone 7 because it isn't out yet but I did use the iPhone 6s Plus. Note that I used the 6s Plus for about a week at launch, and during that time it did receive 2 software updates:

Iphone pro
[ ] Feels very fast, faster than the note 5/s7 when working properly.
[ ] Tapatalk app is more refined
[ ] New notifications turns on the screen
[ ] Shows Bluetooth battery life
[ ] More control over how notifications show
[ ] Battery life especially on more demanding apps is excellent on the 6sp, substantially better than the Note 5/s7.
[ ] Battery life in very low signal areas is way better on the 6sp, substantially better than the Note 5/s7.

Iphone con
[ ] Sometimes it takes a while after reading an email for the count tag to be reduced on the home screen
[ ] Swiftkey keyboard cannot be resized,no number row, some security switches back to stock
[ ] Gmail cannot be set to auto jump to the older email after deleting current email
[ ] Widgets on the home screen not as refined as Android
[ ] Less customizations
[ ] No folders
[ ] Stock email app can only be set to 15 minute fetch at the quickest for Gmail
[ ] No button to delete email in the in box in the stock app, must long press the archive button spps
[ ] Kick apps out of memory when running in the background . for example when downloading pictures from amazon photos, it will stop every 60 to 100 pictures or so and I would have to open the app again, youtube uploads stop when app isn't open.
[ ] Can't set default apps
[ ] App update requires wifi
[ ] Chrome buggy,crashes frequently
[ ] No double click to open camera
[ ] Doesn't register nail as a touch,note 5 does.
[ ] No 5ghz hotspot
[ ] Light touches sometimes do not register on the iPhone, same touch will register on the note 5
[ ] Note 5 seems to do better in very low signal areas
[ ] Can't show band in the top bar
[ ] Gpm streaming stops occasionally
[ ] Using Swiftkey, sometimes you can't see what you are typing as the keyboard blocks the screen where you are typing
[ ] Cannot set the iPhone to switch to vibrate automatically when in a certain area(note 5 can do this with Tasker or similar
[ ] If you use a lot of apps then the system would start to get laggy and crash prone . you can force close all apps once in a while to help mitigate this,as well as shut off and re start the iPhone.
[ ] Also with a lot of apps in memory, background usage for uploading and downloading is severely limited. For example, Amazon photos or youtube can do some uploading in the background when all apps are cleared from memory or when few apps are in memory. But once you have a lot of apps in memory, the apps need to be in the foreground to do uploading.
[ ] Both amazon and Google photos has the option to upload only while charging on the note 5/s7,but not on the iPhone.
[ ] In low signal areas, usually turning on and off airplane mode would kick it back to usable lte on the note 5. On the iPhone, this didn't kick it back to lte

Re: What are your thoughts on iPhones

As far as everyday capabilites are concered, Android and iOS are a six and one half dozen proposition. I have been frustrated by both, but more importantly have enjoyed using both equally. The reason I went S7 this time around was because of the Gear VR, and the 360 camera. These kinds of things added something more to the new phone experience, which had frankly staled. They are innovations that we can hold and "own." Not "something someone is working on." Those things matter to me.

Re: What are your thoughts on iPhones

I have an iPhone 5c for work and detest the thing. It does not even compare favourably to a galaxy s from years ago.

The screen is small.
The screen is unresponsive to my touch about 50% of the time.
Too convoluted to download anything from the Apple store.
Notifications cover up the telephone numbers I am typing in at the top of the screen.
ITunes is far too restrictive.
Can't easily change the ring tone to one of my own mp3's.
No expandable storage.
No room for any HD movies.
Looks cheap.
Feels cheap.

The only reason I have it is because it is standard issue or else I wouldn't go near one at all.

The one good thing about it is that the sound from it is pretty good so I do use it to listen to music when I am at work sometimes.

I know the latest Apple phones have bigger screens but the press and Apple fan boys were raving about this phone when it came out. Why? It was crap then as it is now.

Apple must have a great marketing machine.

Re: What are your thoughts on iPhones

I'm very happy with my iPad air2. It's what I want in a tablet. That being said it's not what I want in a phone. I can't see myself giving up an android phone anytime soon.
