Who's trading in for the Galaxy Fold?

I'll admit it's cool tech and I want it because of the geek in me but I already know it won't fit my needs. I'll be sitting back on this one. Now if it were a folding Note that's a different story.

I still ask the question...... Is it a phone trying to be a tablet or a tablet trying to be a phone?
I don't think it does either job well so bother.

I think it's for folks who do basic phone functions that will be fine with a small screen but when they want to sit back and consume content they can unfold for a bigger screen. So phone first tablet second.

For me I constantly consume and create content so having a device that I'd constantly keep unfolding because of the small screen would get annoying. The Note 10+ is a good balance for screen size for my tasks. And when I want to sit back and really get into it I'll either connect to my HP Lapdock when I'm out and about and use DeX or connect to my DeX dock setup at home.

Anyone who have ever dealt with Samsung customer *service* would steer well clear of the Fold, I love my Notes and prefer Samsung phones but to many things can still go wrong with the Fold

One of the reasons why I also get carrier branded phones. AT&T handles warranty replacements so I don't have to deal with Samsung.

After a few generations they'll have most things ironed out(hopefully). I'll see what the fold is like then if it even becomes a hit.

I love Samsung, but I'm gonna pass. First of all, $2k is way too much, especially when I can't lease the phone via T-Mobile JOD (that's how I afford expensive phones like the Note 10+). Also I avoid buying phones outright since I prefer to upgrade every six months. Secondly, the fact that the phone needs a film cover to avoid being destroyed by dust particles suggests that it isn't very robust. I like the concept of a foldable screen but I don't want a film cover over it, unless it's a screen protector that I optionally purchased myself. Finally, this is clearly very new tech and I want to wait a couple generations until they iron out the bugs.

Keeping my 10+ Thank You. $2K for a phone is INSANE.

I am looking forward to seeing the Galaxy Fold (GF) Drop Tests on YouTube after it comes out.

Drop that puppy when it's open from 10-15 feet onto a concrete floor without a protective case. Then drop it face down from 5-6 feet onto a crushed stone driveway.

Also want to see what sort of cases the case manufacturers come up with to protect the GF when it's open. Those drop tests will be interesting to watch as well.

considering that the Note 10+ 5G and the galaxy book s with 4G will cost not a lot more it makes the price of the Fold even more ridiculous

The Huawei device is a nicer concept visually because it folds outward. As a result is has a bigger screen closed, but that has got to be a nightmare to keep the screen from getting damaged. Huawei carrier compatibility is a big issue as well.

It boggles the mind that their customer service is so poor. You would think they would do a better job since they sell a millions of devices.

Yup agree.

Interesting. Didn't think of cases for the fold and trowing away 2k on a drop test...Ouch!
