can someone help to answer why the att version of the sgs2 has a smaller battery than the sprint version of the phone?? and would the smaller battery size impact the battery life of the phone alot?

Re: why a smaller battery!!!!!!

Smaller screen, smaller chassis, less space.

Re: why a smaller battery!!!!!!

I would also point out, the Sprint Version uses more battery with the WiMax 4g.
ATT HSPA+ is executed from the service side, NOT the hardware side (phone).
The battery size is already physically larger due to the NFC, so I am sure ATT didn't want
to make it any thicker. I would imagine the battery life will be as good or Better than sprint.

Re: why a smaller battery!!!!!!

Yeah no 4G radio was probably a big part of the decision, along with the other stuff mentioned.

Re: why a smaller battery!!!!!!

And the fact that (for me anyway) I get MUCH stronger signal with AT&T. With Sprint, the weak signal was a huge drain on the battery when I had the ET4G.

Re: why a smaller battery!!!!!!

1650mah is standard Galaxy S2 battery size. Sprint's version has a larger battery because the screen sucks up more juice and that needs to be compensated.

Re: why a smaller battery!!!!!!

Why the smaller battery? because it is the same as original Galaxy S II. . . . Sprint had Samsung make the changes for their line up.

Re: why a smaller battery!!!!!!

also it seems they added the NFC chip into the batt.... so that may take up a bit of room as well

Re: why a smaller battery!!!!!!

If it ain't broken don't fix it. It's the same size as the international version minus the thickness with the NFC. It has been selling well around the globe and they have worked out the bugs for us. Bonus for us. I will be getting an extra battery with it though because I'm going to be using it a lot. Getting it with that stand because it comes with the battery. The battery alone is $40 the stand is $50 but you get a battery included.

What is this stand with the battery that everyone has been talking about? I'd love to get this as well.

I grabbed the Official NFC version of the extended 2000mah battery with bigger back for the GSII in preparation of getting the phone next Sunday, the bigger battery and back replacement just add 1mm to the thickness and makes the back flush with the bump at the bottom and better protects the back camera, not a bad loss of 1mm thickness for +20% extra battery, better cooling and added protection due to the different back!

While I was ordering the extended battery I also stumbled upon the battery charger stand so I got two of them as well one for home and one for the office, everything should be delivered to me by next Friday :D.

Where did you buy your accessories from?

+1! Also, could we get some pics of the bigger back flush with the camera bump? I was wondering if an extended back might fit like that.

here's a video of it:

IMHO I like the flush back look better while the camera is recessed just a bit from the back casing to help protect it and this doesn't really add but a mere 1mm to the thickness making it just a bit smaller than the GS1 while adding more battery life... heck they should have made it like this to begin with!
