Why am I getting the error message Unfortunately, Google Search has stopped. ?

We've had this problem for 2 or 3 months. The only solution I've found is to do a factory reset of the phone.(LG 769). The message pops up about every 30 seconds preventing us from doing anything. I've tried going into Google Settings and selecting 'Search' but keep getting the famous error message, Can't do anything except factory reset, and we need to do that every few days. This is getting tiresome. We don't use Google on the phone, nor do we do anything on the web with it. My wife uses it just for texting and some voice calls. Period. Or at least she tries to between error messages and resets.

What else can we do????

I will definitely try to unsinstall and reinstall the google updates and will come back

You might still need to uninstall updates but this proved a pain for me and I kept getting the error which was blocking me from using services. When I stopped Google Voice, the error stopped popping up and my phone started functioning properly. I still uninstalled the updates as stated earlier but not even that worked until I turned off the voice option.
