Why am I not getting the password change option on android device manager

My Samsung phone got locked so in order to access my phone without losing data i tried android device manager n selected the lock option but when I did that I got only two options n that was recovery message n phone no. Why am I not getting the password reset option plzzzz help

Try the Samsung device manager app.

To the best of my knowledge that has no longer been an option for a while on Samsung phones. If you activated a Samsung account on the phone, however, you should be able to unlock it from Samsung's FindMyPhone site. Same idea as the Device Manager, but for Samsungs.
