Why am I suddenly no longer getting push notifications for FB Messenger?

Suddenly a few days ago I noticed that I was no longer getting any sort of notification with a new FB messenger message. Where I used to get a notice on my lock screen, a DING, a vibration and a visible notification on my drop down, suddenly there is nothing. I have to actually go IN to the app to see that I have one. I've checked and rechecked all notification settings both on the phone and in the app. I've tried wiping the cache, wiping the data on both Messenger and Facebook, uninstalling and re-starting. I've tried turning off the Platform access for all other apps. Nothing works. HELP!
