Why am I unable to factory reset Galaxy S 3?

[AC Question]

Unable to factory reset Galaxy S 3.

If I try to power up my S3 it shows samsung, then goes to Galaxy S III and freezes. If I try to factory reset it shows recovery boot while samsung is show then goes to Galaxy S III then restarts vibrates twice and does the same thing over and over again. While trying to factory reset I release the power button as soon as samsung flashes. I'm pretty lost at this point. Phone has never been dropped nor is there water damage. Any help would be amazing.

It may be worth trying a new battery.
