Why am l getting a message unfortunately gallery has stopped?

Why am l getting a message "unfortunately gallery has stopped".

I have an alcatel fierce 2 phone.
It has android version 4.4. When l downloaded tv show episodes and some movies on showbox l go to play them and l get the error message. I only have a few pictures in gallery. I don't know what else to check. Thank you for your input.

Welcome to AC.

Try Settings, Apps, All, scroll to Gallery, select Clear Cache, and Power Off and Restart the phone.

Showbox is an illegal app, and probably came with some malware. Avoid shady apps like these. Thread closed.
