Why android os consuming high memory usgae

Kernel memory alone 1.6gb. Because of this my phone is getting hangs , slide screen freeze. Pls help

Which carrier?
How much memory does your phone have?

I think it's a Custom ROM gone rogue.. maybe you should try formatting your device.
