Why are bottom menu buttons staying backlit when screen is off?

Is there some setting that causes the 4 menu buttons to be lit as soon as the screen sleeps? They are not staying lit up when screen is on and phone is being used?
I just started seeing this a couple if weeks ago.

If you're on CM7, it's an LED notification thing. If you have a notification (email, text message, etc.) they will stay lit up until you clear it.
