I recently received the Lollipop upgrade for my Galaxy S4. Since then the battery has been draining really fast – about 4 or 5 hours from full to empty – and the phone feels very warm. According to GSam, the biggest drain on the battery is the kernel, at 36%, followed by Android System at 25%. Why is the Android core software draining my battery, and how can I stop it?

This happens sometimes with new OS installs. Reboot your phone 3 or 4 times. If that doesn't fix it, try a factory reset.
