Why are my app badges not showing numbers? Galaxy Note 8

I have just recently bought my note 8. My issue is that after I dismiss the notifications, the badge numbers are cleared so shows that I have nothing even nothing has been read.

I've tried Nova Launcher / Prime etc. but it doesn't pull the right number or even the correct numbers through on the badge icons so uninstalled it as it was a waste of time. So now have to physically go into each app to see if there is anything in there, annoying!

I spoke to Samsung Support and was told that they didn't know if and when they will do any software updates regarding this.

Welcome to Android Central!

That's the case with all Samsung phones (and maybe those of other manufacturers, though I can't confirm) that were recently updated to (or released with) Android Oreo. I don't think there's anything we can do about it, except perhaps to wait for another update from Samsung.
