Android Central Question

I just recently bought an LG Fortune 2. I soon realized that I was getting notifications for some of my emails, but not others. I have a gmail account and discovered that when I received emails from other gmail accounts, I received a notification immediately. But when I received emails from any other type of account other than gmail, the notification was delayed, and sometimes I never got one at all. I sent the phone back and got a new one, but I still have the same problem. It's very frustrating!

That has nothing to do with the phone, but with the type of email server you're connecting it to. Gmail can do push notifications - as soon as the email arrives at the server, the phone gets notified that there's an email. Some servers can't do that, so the phone polls them - it contacts the server at set times to see if there are any emails for it. The default "set time" is every 2 hours in some situations. So an email comes in just after your phone polled (asked) the server, then it won't ask again for another 2 hours.

That's just how the internet works.

Some email apps have settings for how often to poll, or to do push, but they seem to have removed that choice from the Gmail app.
