Why are my notificationa delayed?

So I've got a Samsung galaxy s4 and lately my notifications from apps such as: Gmail, Hotmail, WhatsApp, Facebook etc have been delayed. Normally my notifications are instant and my phone will ping however lately my notificationa do not appear until I have actually opened my phone and then all of them come at the same time. This is not due to Internet problem however I do think it's due to a recent update unfortunately I don't remember what the update is called. Can some one please help!!??

Hmmm... Not much to go by here. Check your sync settings under accounts... Wifi/data settings, background data settings. I've experienced this also but only with whatsapp. And it was a whatsapp problem(network) that got fixed with an update they did. That's all I can think of.
