Why are my Skullcandy earbuds not working with my Samsung Galaxy S10e?

[Android Central Question]

I used to not have this problem but for some reason my earbuds (wired w/ mic) are starting to work less effectively as they used to.

Let me explain: 1 press to pause/play whatever I'm listening to, 2 presses to skip, and 3 presses to go back.

I'm now having an issue where the 1 press just won't register sometimes at all sometimes. Other times I'll have to turn my phone screen on by press the power key on it and that will get it to respond.

This has happened with 2 pairs and I don't know how to fix this.

Welcome to Android Central! Are you able to test the earbudes with another device, to make sure it's not a problem with the earbuds themselves?
