Why are none of my google-based apps working correctly?

Hi, I've been experiencing some pretty bad problems with my ZTE Compel (I know, not the best phone) where none of my google apps work correctly. This includes the Play Store, Drive, Youtube, Gmail, G+ and others. I've gone into my accounts and I get the error message from google saying that sync is experiencing problems, which may have something to do with it. I haven't gone as far as removing and re-adding my account because I don't want to lose all my messages just yet. Any help would be really appreciated. I'm running 4.4.

Does this happen on WiFi or mobile network? Do your other apps besides the Google apps work, or do no apps work at all?

People can miss a detail when reading through a post, even when the post isn't that long. I've been guilty of that.

This is an old thread, but I'd suggest trying to disable IPv6, either on your router or your mobile data APN settings, because sometimes the Google servers have problems with IPv6 for unclear reasons.
