Why are people buying a SCREEN PROTECTOR??!

do my homework?

Its made out of friggin Gorilla glass... all these stupid screen protectors ARE A SCAM. You will sooner rip the screen protector off than scratch your evos screen. Furthermore, there is no such protector that helps with oil. The oil residue (which we ALL naturally produce on our bodies) will come into contact with whatever you are touching. It will not magically vanish into thin air because of a plastic screen protector.

Cmon guys... do your homework. Stop aimlessly spending money on crap.

I had a few email correspondence with HTC about this particular question myself.... here is the the email that i got back from HTC on the subject of gorilla glass!!! Subsequently, do YOUR homework before you decide to berate anyone about their choices on anything!!!!!

Dear Brandon,

Good question, Brandon. I would be more than happy to clarify this for you.

HTC devices have screens made out of a proprietary formula of glass, not Gorilla Glass.

Wish I had used a screen protector, somehow I just put about a inch and half scratch on my freaking screen! UGH Does anyone know if Sprint replaces them and what they charge to do so?

I'm pretty rough on phones so a screen protector is a must ... I bet I could scratch Gorilla Glass... on accident!

I have a small scratch on my screen. Hardly noticeable but annoying none the less.

I don't care what anyone says, these screens will scratch. I'm super careful with mine and it still got a light scratch in it... very dissapointing. Ended up tossing a screen protector on for further peace of mind

If you put your phone inside a cloth pouch with velco, how could you get scratch? Besides, there is no stylus.

I didnt want to see a screen protector bc it smear too much vs the naked screen itself.

What yours opinion on this?

All it would take is for one tiny grain of sand to find its way into your pouch. Then every time you put your phone in the pouch or take it out it's going to make a scratch. A stylus wouldn't scratch the screen even if the phone did have one.

Why does it bug someone so much that I put a screen protector on my phone? This thread seems like a waste of space. Do what you like with your phone and let other do as they wish and don't stress yourself out over trivial little things like how they carry their phone or what case they use or if they put a screen protector on or not.

I installed a Boxwave screen protector on my 4G last week and it's beautiful. I've used Boxwave on other devices in the past and have been very happy with it. Easy to apply, easy to remove bubbles, and you can use scotch tape to lift any particles that might get under it.

I have a launch day EVO and never had a protector on mine and it just goes in my pocket. No scratches at all. Quite impressed with the durability of this phone.

Really the only reason I got a screen protector for my Evo is because it shows FAR less fingerprints than the bare screen and I have a serious problem if my screen doesn't look perfectly clean all the time. My previous phone was the Samsuck Moment (I hated that piece of garbage) and I never had a screen protector on it. It still looks brand new. I love my Evo more than I ever loved my old Moment so I want its screen to always be clear of fingerprints and smudges.

Sounds like some of you are still replying to the OP almost a year ago. :D

Smudges are a pain, but the Gorilla Glass cleans off so easily.
