Why are there not more threads on the Axon7?

I seriously don't understand this type of thinking...if the Note 7 is on the table, why on earth are you messing around with an Axon 7? I figure the people going for this phone are the somewhat budget minded people that want something under $500. If you can pay that $850, get the Note 7, no question. That is a true flagship experience.

Main reason I've gone for the A7 is the audio capabilities, the rest is a bonus.

I got mine today. It's an excellent phone, with a screen comparable to the S7 Edge, and audio that surpasses any phone I've used. So far, the down sides are:

It's WiFi and cell are both significantly weaker than my S7 Edge, and Nexus 6P (I got the 6P on sale last week and would keep either that or the Axon 7).

I'm using T-Mobile. I used speedtest to check the Wifi signal. It is the same strength as the other two phones on the same floor as the router, but one level down or up in our townhome, and the speed is less than 1/3rd of the other two phones. The Wifi signal also cuts out periodically on other levels on the Axon, but does not do the same on the other two.

I used an app called Network Signal Info Pro to check the LTE signal in my area. The difference in strength is -114db on the Axon vs. -101db on the Nexus 6P, with the lower number being better. Perhaps these are issues that can be fixed in a software update. I'll contact ZTE support tomorrow.

I replied to you about the wifi on the other thread but didn't know the details of the LTE signal, that doesn't sound normal or at least similar to what I have read from other users and reviews where LTE signal was the same in a S7 edge and on the A7. In that case, remember that you have the great Passport Warranty or if you bought it from Amazon, or Newegg, they have excellent return services, I'd ask for a new one just to discard bad radios.

I think for some, like me, there are issues with every phone. It is just that some have more than others. If I found a device that did everything the S7 Edge did and made me happy, for half the cost, I would be thrilled. I would sell the S7E and keep the other device. What I have found, however, is that there is a reason devices like the S7E cost what they do. They do not have the issues the OP3, Axon 7 and other less expensive devices have. I understand that many people do not like Touchwiz, but for me it is a non-issue. I use Nova and disable the apps I do not want to use and Touchwiz is fine. In fact, Samsung has the best email, calendar, contacts and dialer apps out there, in my opinion. That includes anything available on the Play Store.

I am still trying the Axon 7, but it will likely go back. There are just too many compromises. It is a good phone for the price. I agree with you, however, that spending the additional amount for the Samsung flagships is worth it for those who can afford it. They are the best phones out right now if price is not a factor.

I am a gadget nut and spend more than I should on devices. I have an S7 Edge. I still went for the Axon 7, because it appears that outside of the camera, it's actually potentially, on paper a better phone. This is particularly true if you're an audiophile.

While you can see above I've had some problems with mine, and I will replace it, I think this is a "mid-rangers" in price only. It's specs and feel are very high end. So if it costs less, that's even better. I can tell you that it's got the best audio though headphones that I have ever heard on a cell phone, and that includes the LG V10, and the HTC 10. The Dolby Atmos is phenomenal. I used Bose QC25 headphones to listen. It's speakers kill the HTC 10, and in my view are better than the HTC One M9's and the Nexus 6P.

I don't think I'm alone in considering this phone despite being able to afford more expensive ones.

Be really careful if buying from Newegg. If you read the product description it says the phone can be returned or exchanged within 30 days. But it also states the phone falls under the Newegg Standard Return Policy. This policy states no returns on a non contract phone. Only exchanges. I talked with Newegg today and was told that they will not refund the phone. They will only exchange it. I canceled my pre order due to many people reporting all sorts of problems with the A7. If I got a bum one I would want a refund not another phone. I wouldn't trust another one. Buyer beware.

Any problems with the reseller and you can always simply return it directly to ZTE within 35 days, this way is even more convenient as you can keep the Monster headphones that I already have sold to a friend for $60, if returning it to the seller you must return everything included with the purchase.

I hope for the best but I'm really not worried, the great warranty program was what made it more attractive, and I may be wrong with the above, but I'm confident that in worst case scenario, everything should be covered this way.

I bought from Newegg and the phone is great! Not too concerned about low light photos since I don't take many photos anyway. I bought it for the build quality. I do not like the glass curves or the glass back on the new Samsung's. The new S7 to me looks like the S6 except turned backwards. Far too many people complaining about how easily it scratches and or breaks from minor drops and wear and tear. The lower price is just icing on the cake! I can easily afford a more expensive phone like the Note 7 but I still think, for my use the Axon 7 is the better phone.

After 24 hours with this device, I'm still trying to figure out how they're able to sell this thing at $400! I truly hope that this thing sells like crazy so it'll convince other OEMs to take notice.

The hardware is spectacular. This thing flies and handles just about everything like a champ without turning into a pocket toaster. Playing music on this thing is making me blow the dust off of my old headphones. Signal reception seems about the same, WiFi seems to work better for me over my Moto X Pure. I don't really use the camera much, so I can't really talk good or bad about it.

My only complaints is with the software. It could really use some fine tuning. It's mostly good overall, but the notification bell is annoying, ZTE Locker can be frustrating, and text needs to be lined up properly.

The good news is that 95% of my issues can be fixed with updates. ZTE is planning on eventually unlocking the bootloader. If they do that, I might actually put stock Android on it. Not because I hate the MiPop UI, but I think this thing would be flawless with Stock Android.

I don't think the positive reviews are over selling the device at all. It's way better than its price point would suggest.

If you are someone that likes to buy more than one device, then I get it. It becomes more of a hobby at that point, which is cool. I was so happy with my HTC M7 for over two years, never even cared about what new phone was coming out. Finally it was getting too laggy and had to replace it. After trying out a ton of phones, I stuck to a 1+3. But I do miss those front facing speakers and thus the Axon 7 has perked my interest. I want to see what the new Nexus phones look like first, but maybe I end up giving this phone a go.

Their warranty policy clearly say that you have 35 days from the day you buy it to return it (to ZTE) for a full refund. There is no indications that if you buy it via a third party vendor the return must be to the seller and not to them, I highly doubt they will leave themselves open for legal troubles because of this.

What it was confusing was that apparently some of the original vendors were not showing the Passport 2.0 warranty as part of the phone features so people were having doubts if that means that the warranty won't be available if buying from those sellers, but again, I highly doubt they will leave out 1 or 2 of their few resellers from their passport 2.0 program, anyways, Newegg is indeed one of their official reseller and Newegg even lists the Passport 2.0 full features on the phone description, giving the clear implications that it's covered for both, newegg return policies and ZTE Passport 2.0 coverage.

The axon 7 is a true flagship. Without the cost. Its really a different phone experience and with that, the person who chooses it isn't looking fora pen and Iris scanner. Audio and metal build are more important. Maybe the cost is too but that's not why for me. I moved from the s7 edge because the UI is still laggy compared to a better optimized phone. To each his own.

So if you buy from Newegg you can not return the phone for a refund. With Best Buy it's 15 days only. B&H is honoring the 30 day return. If the phone is defective ZTE will replace it. But if it was purchased somewhere other than ZTE then ZTE will not refund the phone. You must follow the return policy of the place you bought the phone from.

Thanks for the info, but again, that's not what their policy states, plus before I decided to buy from Newegg I called ZTE and had a long chat with one their CSRs that talked with extreme confidence and seemed very knowledgeable of all my questions and she clearly mentioned to me that their Passport 2.0 warranty will be covering everybody, not just the ones that buy from them, like HTC does with their Uh Oh protection plan, and yes, that was one of my specific questions.

Never trust what a CSR say via Forum, text, or phone, just look at the response to me and the one you saw in the forums, total contradiction, what matter is what is explicitly said on their policy and as you can see in the link I provided and in other news articles mentioning the Passport 2.0, they NEVER say that it just applies to purchased directly with them like HTC does.

So, again, I hope for the best, and I know that according to past experiences my chances of getting a bad unit is always there but I want this device so if I get a DOA device I'll ask for a new one from Newegg, if I don't like it I'll demand their passport warranty and get my money back within 35 days like it clearly states if not, nothing that a good law suit warning can't take care of and in worst case scenario, there's always Swappa where I know I can always sell it for a profit, as the ones being sold right now.
