Why are Upday headings only opening in Portrait mode?

I am using a Samsung Galaxy Tablet S6 Lite. When I side-swipe the pre-loaded Upday app opens with captions in Portrait only. When I select one and click on it, the article then opens in landscape. Its the same on a version 8f the app that I downloaded from Galaxy store.
