Why aren't apps making their own notification sounds?

Hiya guys, I received my S9+ on Friday and loving it.
I have noticed though that apps aren't giving out their custom notifications. There's even one app not kicking out anything more than badge icons either but I have a feeling that's an app issue as it wasn't perfect on my S7E.
Some apps though, like township (sad I know) used to moo at me etc on the old phone, but on the S9 I just get the default notification sound, dew drop to be specific.
Have I missed something?

(sorry for the double post, I thought I was posting here but turns out just asked a general question, not sure where it went as I hadn't signed up for the website yet)

check the settings on that app and see if there is an option to chose the notification sound.
if not then the app will use the default notification sound.

Spoke to Samsung yesterday. There is an issue which they think may be rectified in a software update at some point.
If you've switched off notifications on the drop-down notifications tray, it will also stop badge notifications - which basically means no notifications at all - which is a pain in the bum. You have to go into each individual app and switch off notifications.

Also, some developers don't bother putting in code to set a specific notification for the app. Or the app had it, but when they updated the app to run on a newer version of Android, they decided to delete that code. (Why? Space. It's not elegant code. Arbitrary decision. You'd have to ask the developer.)

I'm having notification problems too. Can't get notification badges to show up on most apps and no push notifications from Facebook, Words With Friends, FB Messenger, etc. Seems like the whole notification system on the SOS is a huge ckusterf*ck. Hope that they fix it soon
