Why aren't I waking up with 100% battery?

I charge my phone every night when I go to sleep, and unplug it when I wake up. The issue is that I rarely wake up with a 100% charged battery. It usually ranges from 75%-92%. When I wake up it will still say it's charging. I'm in a big hurry in the morning so I don't have time to reboot and try to get it charging again. Is this an issue for anyone else?

Software in most phones cut off the charging once its reach 100% this prevents overcharging of the batteries which kills batteries. Thus when it goes down to X amount the phone may continue to charge again.

I'm aware of that, but at least when I was using an iPhone most days I would start out with 98% or so. Having to start the day with 25% of my battery gone is tough.

Huh, didn't know they did that to stop overcharing (knew that was bad though)
Try using an application to recalibrate your battery with your software, there are several out there, and you can also run the battery to 0 and charge it back up. These are said to work.

It's totally normal the same happens to me. I go to sleep at 100% and wake up around 90-94%.

It seems one of a few factors that are in play that make the Nexus 4 battery inefficient. It maybe hardware or software related but I'm sure Google will address this in a firmware update.

Android 4.2 seems to have battery drain issues and even without that some apps can be problematic. Whats the battey life like?, I'd guess bad, it could be that the phone is using nearly all the power your charger is supplying.

So, I was having a similar problem. I was also having a problem with the phone maintaining a charge period. Plugged in while watching YouTube, it would drain like it was getting no power.

At a whim, I replaced the mini usb cord and, vola, it works now! No problem. You might have a faulty/loose USB cord, that seemed to be my issue.

You read wrong. The OP charges his phone, unplugs it and wakes up with substantial battery drain.

I think you read the OP wrong or i am misunderstanding you. I believe he does not unplug it til he wakes up. Issue is charging and maintaining full charge while plugged in, not battery drain while in standby.

Mine also often goes down to the 90's. Not sure I've seen it under 95 or so, though. The OP has seen it at an 72% in the morning. That doesn't seem normal.

Does this mean I can keep my phone plugged in after charging? I usually unplug at 100% to male sure I don't damage my battery.
