Why aren't my SMS staying silent when I try to silence them?

SMS tone/sound

It seems that LG G3 plays the SMS tone/sound via the Media volume (music and games) and not under the Ring/Call volume.
When I silence the sound through the code, it does not silence the sound of an incoming SMS.
This is very important to me! Anyone? Thank you.
