Why can't I add one of my hotmail accounts on my new Galaxy S6?

Can't add one of my hotmail accounts on new Galaxy S6

I have two hotmail accounts that I receive e-mails from. I was successfully able to add one but not the other. The one that worked is a .com account where as the other is a .ca account. They both used to work just fine on my S3.

I tried the stock e-mail app and g-mail. Neither work. I tried adding it as an Exchange Account, IMAP and POP3. No luck. Tried modifying the connection/server settings, still nothing. Even downloaded a third party app (Nine) but that didn't work either. Nine did however lead me to a tool that told me that the account can't be set up as an exchange although I don't really understand why.

At any rate, what's the next step? How can I fix this? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome to Android Central! This probably won't do anything, but can you try entering that Hotmail.ca account as Hotmail.com?

Tbh I didn't think it would work but at this point anything is worth trying!

I had this issue back in the day and I think, I stress the word "think", I had to go into the email settings (not on phone but actual computer) and tweak the settings to push to the phone.

I use the myMail app. It has my gmail, yahoo, and hotmail accounts and is by far the best email app out there IMO

Try out Type, you can add all your emails accounts.

I had this exact same problem with my hotmail account. It said it was an authentication error

Problem solved thanks to the Microsoft escalation team.

It only took a total of 3 hours of back and forth via phone and online chat...

Essentially, the account had two step verification enabled and so the account could be not configured properly through the e-mail app. Once two step verification was disabled, I was able to add the account and re-enable the verification. Thank you to everyone who posted up here with information!

Log in to your microsoft accounts. Then go to account settings and under the Security and Privacy tab you'll find "More security settings". It's under there.

What worked for me was this. Go to email app, then settings, then add new account, select other, enter email [the one ending in hotmail.com], enter password and select manual, then select Microsoft Exchange Activesync, then change the exchange server to outlook.live.com, and that should do the trick. Worked for me

Thanks, worked for me too. My account has already been working for a year and suddenly two days ago it stopped syncing. I removed it and tried to add it back to reset config but it didnot work. Your trick worked like a charm! thanks again

WOW!!! You guys just saved me. I did exactly as you said and its working great!!
I have new s7 and email worked fine for 2 hotmail accounts past couple weeks then one just stopped syncing, removed it and then couldnt re-add it. Im abroad for 3more months so had little idea how to find help. And definitely not very tech savvy. So this has been hero to me. Thanks so much for posting!!! X

please try this :

1: go to applications menu and run email
2: enter your email and password , you must be login into your email
3: choose wath do you want to sync

or

1: go to setting and choose add account
2: select corporate and enter your email and password

Hi, I got a Samsung Galaxy S6, coming from iphone, and having difficulty setting up personal and work email on it. Error message on personal server does not support authentication. Its an eircom.net email address
