Why can't I bass boost or adjust music sound through pandora with a equalizer app note 5

With my Samsung s5 I had no problems on 5.1.1 using a app like equalizer fx or some other app to add bass to my headphone listening experience. After upgrading to the note 5 through atnt I cannot adjust bass through their SoundAlive software or through any other 3rd party equalizer or booster even after disabling SoundAlive.

Even SoundAlive doesn't want to work with streaming apps.
