Why can't I change my network mode?

i cant change my network mode

i cant click the network mode on my phone it just darkens......i want to change my mode from gsm to wdmca.....help plsss

What phone and android version are you using?

Are you clicking on 'mobile network type' in Settings->About phone? Because that is just an information box and you can't change any options in that menu.

To change these settings:
1. Open the dialer
2. Type in the number: *#*#4636#*#*
3. Click phone information
4. Look for "Set preferred network type"
5. Click on the drop down menu below
6. Select the option you want (either "WCDMA preferred" or "WCDMA only"

I think I have the same problem as this person.. we are not able to press the "network preferred" sector, at all.

I suspect some phone models may be manufacturer or carrier locked to just 1 network mode. That might explain why the default solution is not working for some.

Hey Mark, i am too facing the same issue. I could not change my "Set Preferred network mode" in Engineering mode. I made my 2nd sim to 2g. So my 1st sim can be changable to only wcdma or gsm or unknown, other than these 3 nothing is selectable, especially LTE. I need LTE for my Jio 4G sim in sim 1 slot. For my Android 1, Micromax canvas A1 AQ4502.

Hi.

I have a similar issue. But in my case, the provider is NTEL and they offer only 4G LTE.

I use a BB classic, when I put another sim, say MTN, I get a clear “4G” option, along side other combined options: 4G+3G+2G or 3G+2G. However when I insert the NTEL sim, I get LTE/HSPA+/UMTS/GSM or LTE/HSPA+/UMTS, without LTE or 4G alone.

Using a BB-Classic which is partially Androidy, the *#*# code doesnt work.

I have also used several apps to try to force-select 4G or LTE alone but it doesnt seem to have any effect.
Is there any other way I can force-fix the 4G LTE option?

Now the network bar doesnt even show NTEL again, even with the SIM card properly inserted.
