Why can't I get I write to an SD card when using a memory card reader on PC but can on phone?

Can't write to SD card when using a memory card reader on PC but can on phone

I can write to my SD card fine when it is plugged into my phone.
If I remove it and insert it directly into my computer or mac you can't write to the card.

If I keep it in the phone and connect via USB I can write.

The card is formatted as EXFAT.

Any ideas?

If your using a micro sd to sd converter make sure its not locked to read only. Some of those adapters have a little switch on the side that says lock on or off.
