I temporarily uninstalled messenger for personal reasons, and now that I want it back I'm unable to download it again. Every time I get a message that says "Can't install Messenger. Try again, and if that doesn't work, see common ways to fix the problem." I've tried everything and still can't get it to install.

Welcome to Android Central! I presume you're talking about Facebook Messenger. Are you trying to install it from the Play Store, or from somewhere else?

sorry for not being specific. Samsung Galaxy Note 3, Android Version 5.0, and Facebook messenger

yes, Facebook messenger! I am trying to install from thePlay Store

Try going to Settings>Apps, select Google Play Store, tap Storage, and Clear Cache/Clear Data, then Force Stop. Do the same for Download Manager -- you probably have to tap Menu>Show System to see it. Now try again.

Did that, still getting the same message.

We've been seeing this issue posted a few times lately -- it could be that a recent update to Facebook Messenger is causing some kind of compatibility glitch with certain Samsung devices. Send feedback to the developer. Unfortunately, you may just have to wait until they fix the bug.

Another possibility is the Google server outage that occurred over the weekend. Are you able to install other apps through the Play Store? If you can, then the server outage isn't the issue.
