Why can't I receive texts from 1 person

For some reason I cannot receive text messages from one certain number I have had several other people text me and their messages come in fine and I can text the number without any issues as well however every time they try to text me it says not sent try again dot-dot... I have gone into all of the block settings and there are no blocks set up on my phone or theirs any ideas thanks guys

Have you ever had this number registered with Apple's iMessage service, and is the other person using an iPhone? If so, then his/her messages might be routed through iMessage rather than your respective carriers' SMS networks.

If he's using an iPhone, he has to mark at least one message "SMS", so his phone will know that your phone can't receive iMessages. (Don't blame Android or Google - or your phone's manufacturer. Apple owns the protocol and won't allow anyone else to use it.)

(If you used to have your number on an iPhone, you wouldn't be receiving texts from anyone, you'd be receiving iMessages, you'd be on an iPhone now, and you'd be in the wrong forum.)

Not necessarily. I had this same problem when I switched from iOS to Android, and was able to receive messages from everyone but iMessage users until I de-registered (https://selfsolve.apple.com/deregister-imessage/)

I have a similar problem. Out of dozens of contacts I have, with two of my friends, one with Android and one with an iPhone, if they send me text messages they do not come through. It does not tell them that they did not go through. They both get my text messages no problem. They also text message with other people no problem. I did find a workaround which has been very reliable, if annoying. If either one of them includes a picture in their SMS, it comes through fine. I can't explain it. Can anyone?

What phone do you have?

What texting app are you using?

My phone is LG-M3222. It's a 6-8 months old Xfinity phone on their own service, which is on Verizon. All three are using the texting app which came originally installed, which are, I am sure, all different. All of us every day are using texting trouble-free with dozens of other contacts. That is why it was difficult to figure out the text messages were not coming, but only from them to me. I don't have a Spam block on my phone.

Receiving missing text

The reason you aren't able to received a message from one of your contacts is becuase he/she using an exclusive messaging app for iPhone to iPhone only

Hi, I wanted to see about adding to this thread because I'm having the same problem. Me, LG G7 on Verizon, my buddy iPhone of some sort on T-Mobile. We were able to communicate on a group text and individually then one day, poof, it stopped working. Same phones, same app (he uses native iPhone messaging app, I use Textra, same carrier. He can see my texts to him, but I can't see his.

I'm trying to avoid calling my carrier, because we don't know who's end this is on. Again, he can see my texts but I can't see his. We've tried MMS (using pictures) and SMS. Nothing.

To my knowledge, it's only him. My wife and daughter, and 90% of my friends, have iPhone's and I have no problem getting theirs.

Also, when he calls me, I get no notification (no ring, no missed call) I only know he called if he leaves a VM.

Have your iPhone friend check his contacts info for your entry. Make sure it is set to "SMS" or whatever the not-iMessage option is labeled.

If your phone number was ever associated with an iPhone, you may need to update the iMessage system.

I would like to add to this and ask for some insight - I am having this issue... I have the galaxy note10 (not the +), my husband has the galaxy s7 edge - we are on the same carrier (sprint) same account, etc... he is the only person I cannot/ do not receive texts from, he gets mine just fine and calls are just fine - BUT it's sporadic! I'll get a slew of them if/when I restart my phone then the problem starts all over again. sprint tried refreshing my services etc - he is not blocked in any way and we use the same messaging platform. HELP!

Welcome to Android Central! You're talking about simple SMS texts, right? Is your mobile data always on? One possibility would be that, if your mobile data is often turned off, then any MMS messages he sends (which can be picture messages, group texts, or texts with emojis) might not come through.

Just wondering if you were able to get this fixed. I am having a similar problem, I can't get any text messages from people on Verizon.

If you were able to fix it, what did you do to fix it.
