I can't remove an embedded account

My work changed our email addresses, which are gmail corporate accounts. They linked the old account with the new account. When I turned on my phone, the account automatically changed to the new one in the accounts section and I can still get my email without problems. The issue is I keep getting a login failure notification for the old account. Since the old account is no longer listed in the accounts section of the settings, I can't delete it. I can't find it listed anywhere in the phone. How can I find this account embedded in the phone and remove it?

I'm using an LG Optimus g with version 4.1.2.

Welcome to Android Central! Can you try removing the account completely from the phone, then adding it back again?

I tried removing the new account and putting it back in, but it did not fix anything. I still get the sign-in error for the old account. When they set up the old accounts to automatically migrate to the new account, it left the shadow of the old account I can't seem to access.
