Android Central Question

I had a Galaxy Note 3. I could plug the Note 3 into my laptop and see music and pictures and all the files on my phone. When I plug in the LG G6 I can't see any files. Is there a way I can see the files?

When you connect your Note 3 to laptop, you should find an option on the drop-down menu named "Connected as a media device" and when you tap it you should see connecting options like MTP and PTP. Can you find the same option on your LG g6?

If not, go to Settings > Storage > the Menu icon > USB PC connection, select MTP.

If your files are stored in the phone memory, you can't see the files on your PC by just connecting your device via a USB. It only works for files on SD card.
