Why can't I sign in to Google/Playstore?

Got a new phone and when I try to add an account, it shows a "Can't establish a reliable connection to the server..." message. It's on a mobile data plan; don't know what's wrong. What do I do?

Your best chance is either to keep retrying (or retry somewhere different) or try while on a wifi connection
