Why can't I transfer data from my Android phone to my PC?

I cant transfer data from my android phone to my pc please help!

So i connected my usb cabel to the laptop and its not being detected on my phone but its charging.what do i do to transfer data?

Have u turned on USB debugging in "developer options"?

Your cable may be a one way charging cable, device drivers are not installed for your model, or try a different usb port.
You should get "Connected as an MTP (or PTP) device" on the notification panel.
