Why cant i update my android version (galaxy ALPHA)

Hello When i try to software update it just says: "The latest updates have already been installed"-
Andoid version 4.4.4.
my model number is sm-g850f.
baseband 850fXXU1ANHA
Many apps are only working on android version 5+

Perhaps that is the latest software version for your version of the device, in your region, and perhaps on your carrier?

The Galaxy Alpha was released 2014.

Is it carrier branded? Some Alphas were updated to 5.0.1
