Why can't I update my phone?

I own a Nexus 6
Current android version is 5.1
Trying to update it to 5.1.1
It is possible to download the software but during installation, phone crashes every time.

Connect to WiFi pull Sim card do factory reset. Restart on WiFi only should have update in 10 minutes
