Why can't I upgrade my Nexus 4 from 5.0 to 5.01?

Cannot upgrade my nexus 4 from 5.0 to 5.01

I have5.0 but when I try to get 5.01 to work it just leads me to more information.

I have just received OTA update for 5.0.1 today, just wait patiently and it'll be pushed to you

Installed 5.0 upgrade, many problems, factory reset required, all good. Except now cannot install 5.0.1, like many others just get "error". I get a notice every day that the update is available, download a new copy, install starts and crashes with same error screen. Don't want to do another factory reset, not interested in wiping everything and starting from scratch.
