Why can't i use my mtn Sim card not supported in Samsung verizon 4g lte in Ghana

Am in Ghana and when I inserted my mtn Sim card into a new Samsung Verizon 4g LTE, it was written that the sim card is not supported. When I inserted a different sim card, the same statement was written. Why so ?

Ghana uses GSM, not CDMA. If the phone doesn't support GSM, it doesn't support GSM SIMs. ("new Samsung Verizon 4g LTE" doesn't tell us the model number of the phone, so we can't even guess. And if it's newer than 60 days old, it's SIM-locked - you should have discussed that with Verizon before leaving the US - they'll unlock early if you're going overseas.)
