why can't I use my touch screen without the s pen

I am having problems using the touch screen of my note 3, just the s pen only works on it

Welcome to Android Central! The S Pen works differently than the digitizer of the touchscreen, so it's likely that the digitizer is faulty. Does this persist in Safe Mode? https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-27712
