Why can't I view text messages on my GS4 since updating to Lollipop?

Updated to Lollipop on GS4. Now can not virew ANY text messages.

Hi. Yesterday I updated my Galaxy S4 to Lollipop. Among other problems, the main one is that I can not view any new or even ANY old text messages. In the stock messaging app I can see the first few lines of each message, but when I try any look at the full message...nothing...

Any ideas without performing a factory reset? Many thanks.

Try installing another SMS app like Comp SMS or Textra and see if you can read them in those apps

If all else fails make a back up of your text and do a factory reset.

Installed Textra and that solved the problem...many thanks!

I just upgraded my Galaxy S4 GT-19505 with latest android Lollipop but since then i am unable to view my text msgs. please help me out how to fix this bug.

Hi Just to say I have exactly the same problem, yet yesterday I had been fighting with com.google.process.gapps window every 5 secs.

Now thank goodness this window isnt coming up, but now I cant view any texts old/new and I cant get into google playstore to try and download another text app; its saying I have no wifi yet it shows its strong signal. So not sure if I still have previous problem issues but I think I need to do a factory reset maybe?

Loving the new lollipop look however once everything is working again...sigh!

If you set handouts as your main message source it should work. I have had the same issue and searched the net for answers. But this seems to do the trick, until they fix the problem. Hope it helps for you.

I just upgraded my Sony Xperia Z3 and did teh same. Said I had txts but couldnt read them appart from first few lines on lock screen.

I turnt the notifications off and now txts are showing.

You would of thought something so simple would be picked up in Lollipop bug testing!

I have the same problem viewing texts and texting. Following your advice,I tried to used Textra.
So part of the problem was solved. I can see messages and I can text. But I don't receive text messages sent to me.

Any idea how can I solve this?
